  1. My hair loss has been BAD since surgery (almost a year out), so I started on a pre-natal vitamin along with using Nioxin again. It's been a couple of weeks now and the hair loss seems to have slowed down. If it doesn't, I'll be looking like Britney Spears soon too. I've always had really thick hair and it sucks being able to see my scalp now. The only choice I have if this doesn't work is to shave it off and wear a wig.

  3. Just wanted to chime in and let you guys know you really give me inspiration. I was banded April 13th and have only lost 30 lbs because of hormone issues. My goal this year is to find the right Doctor and get this mess figured out once and for all so I can get to goal. I'm happy the scales are moving in the right direction, just want it to be a little faster. Keep up the good work!
  4. I've already had it all...LOL. I guess that means possible revisions for me. I had full body lipo., breast lift and tummy tuck in 2005. Would I do it again? Only the TT. I wouldn't pay the money for the BL or Lipo again......love the TT.
  5. I was also on it for a while with no side affects and no weight loss. I just got put on the new drug Januvia because Metformin didn't do a whole lot for me at 1500 mgs......has anyone heard of it?
  6. Hijack.....Hi Vickie.......I go to Dr. Herrera also.....love him.
  7. For me also, being too tight helped me realize where my seet spot is. I can now eat almost anything I want, but in small amounts. The thing is, I don't really get hungry. My tummy lets me know when it's time to eat because it growls so loudly. If it didn't, I think sometimes I would just go without. This is perfect for me even though I probably eat too much at one sitting. When I was too tight I lost nothing.....now I'm actually losing.
  8. Well, I love Dr. Ortiz and his whole staff......would do it all over again. Hopefully, with a little weight loss, the CPAP will no longer be needed.
  9. Well, let me just add my 2 cents worth in here also. I was banded in April of last year and to this day (9 months) have only lost 30 lbs. I was very, very tight for a long time and lost nothing. When I finally hit "my" sweet spot a couple of months ago and started eating more, I finally started losing weight. I eat a cup or even more at every meal......and I snack. My body needs the calories. I'm not going to argue who is right or wrong, just wanted you to know what happened with me. I have alot of medical problems and YES they do contribute to whether you lose weight or not. IT IS NOT easy for us. I exercise ALOT and have for the last 15 years. I also eat right......I'm still a slow loser. We're all different.......and it's not as simple as just eating right and exercising for some of us. Hormones which are a major factor for me are a bitch to control and wreak havoc on your system. It has taken me years to get some control over them to even lose a little bit of weight. For me, I don't care if it takes me 10 years to get to goal as long as the scales are moving in the right direction.

  11. I totally agree with La madam. It may loosen up a tiny bit, but it sounds to me like you are too tight. Can you drink water? I know you said soup doesn't go down very easily, but what about liquids? Have you tried drinking something warm before anything else? Does that work? I've been where you are. I was too tight after my 3rd fill (same band you have) and tried to wait it out also. It was a very horrible experience for me. After having just a tad taken out, I felt 100% better. Keep us posted.
  12. I was banded in April and have only lost 23-25 lbs. That is super slow, but I have hormone problems that give me fits losing weight. I am thankful that the scales are moving in the right direction, if even just a little. At this rate, it will take me years to get my weight off, but I've come to terms with it.
  13. I did the tests on my own (my Endocrinologist knew I was doing them) through ZRT labs.
  14. I got my results back yesterday from the saliva testing I had done and these are the results: Estradiol- 1.7 range 1.0-5.0 Progesterone- 60 range 100-600 Ratio- 35 range 50-200 Testosterone- 20 range 20-50 DHEAS 3.6 range 3.10 Cortisol morning- 6.3 range 3.8 Cortisol Noon 1.6 range 2-4 Cortisol Evening 0.7 range 1-2 Cortisol Night 0.4 range 0.5-1.5 It says I'm Estrogen Dominant and have Adrenal Fatigue. Is this just what it says or could it somehow play a part of something bigger like Cushings? Well, at least now I know why I'm not losing weight.
  15. Of course, I had my husband with me, but I felt 100% safe. We had a blast shopping....kids loved to make them come down on the prices. The food (supposedly) was great and Dr. Ortiz is just a gem. The whole staff is great. You can see the Lucerna is nice also. If I had to do it over again, I definitely would.
  16. We thought these were lost due to computer crash, but just came across the disc they were on. I hope this gives a little insight into Tijuana for anyone scheduled to go there soon. http://www.picturetrail.com/miper70
  17. Where do you find the unfiltered apple juice?
  18. It's not always that simple. I exercise ALOT and I eat right.......I have only lost about 20 lbs. since April and just gained 2 back in the last few weeks. I know I'm doing everything I'm supposed to and I also know THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. I am having a great deal of bloodwork and saliva testing done to see if they can figure out just what it is. My whole point is sometimes it's just not what we do or don't do...we have lots of hormones and with those come problems sometimes. There is a wonderful lady on here (you know who you are Vinesqueen) that helped me see this when everyone else was just telling me to exercise more and eat right. Just something to think about.
  19. You always know the right things to say! I had no idea, or at least for a moment I had forgotten that it actually was a symptom. I'm working on having some tests done, but some have been put off because of menstrual issues. I guess they want your hormones tested right in the middle of your cycle. I have another 2 weeks before I can do them. Anyway, thanks again!
  20. I could not believe it when I got my cholesterol results yesterday. My cholesterol has gone from 180ish to 212 since being banded. My liver enzymes were high before so I had to go off of Lipitor. I think we were all kind of hoping that it would work itself out after being banded and losing weight. NOT! Good thing is, they didn't say anything about the enzymes so maybe they're down. I will get all of the results back soon, but this was just what they sent yesterday.
  21. Something else you may want to try is called the cold roll. If I remember correctly it's tuna, salmon, cream cheese, avacado and maybe something else wrapped in thin cucumber. It was delicious!
  22. Banded April 13th by Dr. Ortiz and no complaints. The experience was great and so far no complications.
  23. I need help finding someone to help me. My Endo. , bless his heart is trying, but I truly don't think he knows much about Cushings. I mentioned it to my new PCP the other day and he said "with Cushings, you have definite visible symptoms." Ummmm. I have major facial hair, hyperpigmentation on my face, upper body obesity.....etc. I'm beginning to think I'm screwed on this. I don't know where else to turn. The only thing they checked as far as cortisol goes was just the regular cortisol blood test. HELP!!! I'm still not losing weight. If I do, I gain it back within a week.
  24. I have the opposite problem....I wish I could burp. I hiccup alot, but not burp. before I started using Beano, I would get these huge (felt like it anyway) air pockets in there that wouldn't go anywhere. I would try so hard to burp but couldn't. Now they're not so bad..... if I remember to take the Beano.
