  1. Today was my first day of mushies! I went to the grocery store last night to get some food...had scrambled eggs for breakfast!! Doc says I am healing great and I've lost 26 lbs so far.
  2. Not feeling too great, but not too bad, considering. I'm just glad I did it!
  3. Hi Wuan2000, I am not really freaking out - yet - but I am trying to clean out the cabinets and refrigerator, and that's a little hard. It was a lot of work to jump through all the hoops just so insurance would cover. They are approving me through a program that has their own set of hoops. All kinds of tests that they don't do in their offices, so I've been running around town getting labs and ultrasounds and stuff. That's been a little stressful. How are you doing on the pre-op diet? The program provided me with their own liquid protein shake mix, and it is not very good (soy based), but that is the only negative. I can stand it for a few more days till the surgery. Now I just need to get myself organized at home so I am ready. There is a really good "shopping list" on the boards here that I am going to use for ideas. Best of luck. We'll talk more!
  4. :cursing: Well, I am scheduled for February 12th!!!! Do the Feb Bandsters have a cool name yet???
  5. I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Quebbeman, and I would love to talk with someone who has had previous experience with him, and/or the NEW Program in Newport Beach. thanks!
  6. Well, all the red tape is done, and I have been approved by my insurance company. I am going through a program in Irvine, CA called The NEW Program, and the surgeon is Dr. Brian Quebbeman. I go in for surgery on February 2nd.
  7. Hi Everyone, I just had my initial consultation with the surgeon for the Lap-Band, and he and my husband are both strongly suggesting gastric bypass instead. I cannot think of a good reason to do it this way, and I am looking for some good arguments. What are your thoughts? If you had it to do all over again, would you choose RNY bypass? If so, why? What are the differences in dietary restrictions as far as what kinds of foods are permissable? Anyone? Thanks in advance for your input.
  8. I am getting ready to have the lap band surgery. On all my other diets, I was always making something for me to eat, and something for my husband. How do you who do most of the cooking handle post-band food prep? Does your spouse cook for him/herself? Do you still cook, even when you are on post-surgery diet? Any tips for helping make this process smoother for the skinny spouse, without making him/her cook all the time?
  9. Absolutely. The more I think about it the more excited I get!
  10. Well, I visited the psychologist today. She saw me for an hour and approved me-well, mentally, anyway! That was the last hoop. My doctor needs to get everything in to the insurance company for review and then, hopefully, they will approve me. Wish me luck!
  11. Hi there, everyone. My name is Connie and I am beginning the process for possible lapband surgery. Right now I am waiting for the insurance co to approve. I look forward to talking with you!
