cocoduan reacted to KathyLev in Calories for Phase 5 or 8 weeks POMy dietician gave me this info .... for the general diet ( about 8 weeks out )
" Aim for 1,000 to 1,200 calories per day and between 60 - 80 grams of protein. Max= 12 oz. per meal "

cocoduan reacted to catwoman7 in Calories for Phase 5 or 8 weeks POwe were told not to count calories early out. With as little as you're likely eating, calorie intake isn't going to be a problem. We only were told to count protein grams and fluids.

cocoduan reacted to Fred in Pa in Calories for Phase 5 or 8 weeks POAt 8 weeks I was at about 800 calories per day.
I went mostly on my restriction and making sure to make good food choices. That equated to about 5 to 7 ounces per meal depending on the texture. Most of my calories came from protein.
My team didn’t give a calorie goal but instead advised what I outlined above.
I am now at four months, and have added in more exercise, and therefore more calories. I have slowly added in carbs while watching my blood sugar levels as well to balance my diet.
Looking towards maintenance, I was told to balance calories and activity to maintain weight…all while making good food choices.

cocoduan reacted to catwoman7 in HELP!!! Revision - Sleeve to MGBmilk and yogurt both contain lactose, which is a sugar - but it's not ADDED sugar (unless you're eating sugar-sweetened yogurt). I never worry about lactose. It's not a "bad" sugar, and the amount of protein in milk and yogurt offsets any negative.
yellow stools (or any weird color, for that matter) aren't usual the first month or two after surgery. The digestive system has changed and it takes a couple of months for everything to settle down. I think mine looked normal again after 4-6 weeks (it's been a few years so I don't remember exactly)
weight loss is usually slower with revisions. And if you're still on liquids or purees, no, you're not going to feel restriction. Those go through you pretty quickly (or in the case of fluids, they go right through you). Plus you've likely had nerves cut that'll take a few weeks to regenerate. You should start feeling restriction about the time you move to solid food.

i'm more confident, less tired, less annoyed, more patient.
sex? also for the better (see reasons above, ha!) but i'll also add: im more limber/bendy lol.

Starting weight: 262lbs
Height 5ft
Hi all,
I'm just over 1 month post-op (Mini bypass). I lost 14lbs on LRD (2 weeks), and since surgery I've lost 19lbs. I've pretty much had stalls throughout this month and I'm so disheartened that the scales aren't shifting much. Literally everyone else I know that's had surgery lost at a fast rate in their first month and meanwhile I'm chugging behind. I healed extremely fast, tolerate anything I'm cleared to eat and drinking as much fluid as I can. I'm also walking more with my dogs and soon to be cleared to go to the gym.
I feel hunger still as well, and to be honest drinking water makes it worse for me.
I didn't expect this to be a quick fix but if I have to work out 5 days a week to even go near my target, then surgery was a big waste of money as that just isn't suitable for my lifestyle.
The reason I'm saying 19lbs is slow is because before surgery I could easily lose 2st in less than a month, obviously would gain it back but that was the norm for me.
Has anyone got a similar story to mine where they started off slow but still hit their target?
Thanks

cocoduan reacted to calamity72 in Jan 2023 MGB Surgery.Hi, I had surgery (Mini Gastric Bypass) in Jan 2023 and I am losing weight. Total weight loss is 50lb (in 23 weeks) . However most of this was lost in the early month and I have slowed to approximately 1lb per week, if that. The slower weight loss is fine, I can cope with this because its going in the right direction.
What has be very anxious is that i find that I feel like i have no restriction and can eat anything. To maintain the weight-loss I need to tell myself not to eat. I am fighting with the 1lb weight loss each week to make sure its a deficit, terrified that it will go up. I don't feel like i have a tool.
Are there any other MGB patients that can eat anything - bread, rice, chocolate, cereal, potatoes. I do suffer nausea if I don't eat sufficient protein but i am so worried that i have gone through surgery and i will spend the rest of my life 'dieting' with little help from my tool.
Anyone else in the same position?
Thanks
