Kiki28 reacted to loras68 in May 2023 surgeriesHad my VSG May 19, 2023. Feeling pretty good, walking up to 2 miles at a time at 2.5 to 3.0mph. I am looking forward to transitioning to puréed diet. Looking forward to the journey with my May 2023 buddies! -
Kiki28 reacted to CPGL75 in May 2023 surgeriesHi! I’m super new to the group and my date is May 30th. I start my liquid diet 5 days prior to my surgery -
Kiki28 reacted to Loot in May 2023 surgeriesEverything tastes gross. Two days till I’m out of the liquids phase and into the soft foods phase. I’ve already tried refried beans and eggs and frankly they were not good at all. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me lol. This whole time all I’ve been craving is beans and eggs and now I’m just sad. All I want is a salad. Time couldn’t be going slower. -
Kiki28 reacted to JessieJay85 in Surgery Shaming Should Be A Thing…So since losing 65 pounds since surgery Sept 13 2022, people say you lost weight? Then if I say, yes I had sleeve surgery, they say stupid $h!t like, you could have lost it without having surgery…Well, if that was the case would I have been overweight for 18 years out of 36? Or you didn’t really need surgery… ? Tell that to the three bottles of pressure pills, I was on and my blood pressure was still too high!
I don’t understand why people feel it’s their right to tell you their stance on YOUR body and YOUR health??! But, I don’t see a lot of judgement from people in my community when women go get bbl’s and lipo. People REALLY think that they know what it’s like to be obese. They act like I cheated. My daughter who is 18, (away at school), said but you kinda did cheat! I said how is being nauseous every other day, taking vitamins, not being able to eat anything I want and working out cheating? I said it was just a kickstart. She said well, she never really thought of it that way.
I think people think you go get bariatric surgery because they are lazy and want an easy way out. There is no easy way out of obesity. The surgery doesn’t change your mindset. You still battle with food at times. It’s like I want to do something to inform people that, just because your obese, that doesn’t mean your lazy. If you were dying and the doctors do a surgery to save your heart or kidneys, then does that mean you cheated? Bariatric surgery CAN and HAS saved peoples lives. Including mine! Why is it still such a stigma around it?!

Kiki28 reacted to rolawre in May 2023 surgeriesIm so glad your surgery went well. That pain will go away soon.

Kiki28 got a reaction from rolawre in May 2023 surgeriesI had my surgery yesterday May 19th. All went well and I was home by 3ish. I’ve had that dreadful chest pain and my incision are sore but so far so good. I drink a sip or 2 of Premier clear at the top of the hour and water every 15 minutes. Every 4 hours I take 2 sips of Hydrocodone for pain. I’ve been up walking around the house and have on compression socks. I’m not hungry but I am thirsty and scared to drink more than 2 ounces at a time.
So ready for this chest pain to go away. -
Kiki28 reacted to ms.sss in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firsti'm 4.5 yrs post op now, so NSV's come few and far between, but every now and then a new one will pop up:
yesterday i was sitting on a chair scrolling through my phone when i dropped it in my lap. i shut my thighs to catch it, it landed on one if my thighs, then it slipped right through between them and fell to the floor.
my knees felt a little knocked, and i was thinking damn, i hope my apple-care warranty is still valid, then i realized whoa, my thighs are smaller than i think.
p.s. my phone is ok! ?

Kiki28 reacted to Jason Jacobson in May 2023 surgeriesHad my surgery yesterday! Everything went great! First day a bit miserable with the gas pain but walk walk walk! It truly helps. Drank all my water, just eating jello. Today already is much better. Worst part is the uncomfortable hospital bed lol

Kiki28 reacted to Miss Sunshine P in May 2023 surgeriesThose eyes were the best eggs I ever had. Today was that day for me

Kiki28 reacted to LindsayT in May 2023 surgeriesI got a wedge pillow for the bed because I knew I'd be more comfortable in my room. I only needed it a few nights and graduated to a body pillow I could stuff under my stomach and knees. I'm a week and half out and sleeping normally, for the most part. Getting in and out of bed hasn't been overly hard for me once I got home. I understand the kiddos though. Maybe a pillow over the stomach for a bit. I really don't like sleeping in the recliner because it kills my hips.

Kiki28 reacted to Miss Sunshine P in May 2023 surgeriesHey y’all hey, just joined the group but so excited to have people to talk to about my experience vs. their experience through this process. I started my liquid diet on April 23, 2023 and had gastric bypass surgery May 3, 2023. So today I’m one week post-op and had eggs for breakfast. Hardest thing so far is getting 64oz of fluid in a day but that god we can could all liquids??

Kiki28 reacted to SleeveMeAlone23 in May 2023 surgeriesJust checking in a week post-op VSG. I’m doing really well, meeting protein and water goals. I can take about 3 swallows of water at a time, which works out to about 3 oz. Then I gotta allow 10 min or so before I put anything else down the chute. At first I couldn’t even get 3 oz of my protein shakes down at a time, but now I’m getting half shakes down 4 times a day. I also had some Greek yogurt tonight. I absolutely hated Greek yogurt before surgery, but was so good and felt good in my stomach too. I also now like unsweetened tea and I used to be 100% sweet tea girl. It’s absolutely crazy how your body changes.
Good luck to everyone with surgeries coming up this week. Thoughts and prayers are with you all. The pain doesn’t last forever, and things will get better quickly. Soon, we’ll all be looking back and celebrating our success and seeing these moments of struggle as just stumbling blocks on our journey!
Oh, and 22 pounds down from start of pre-op as of this morning!! ??
Much love to all! ? -
Kiki28 reacted to Svet in May 2023 surgeriesGood luck!! You'll do great!! We'll be waiting for you to come back to tell us that it was easy and fun and we have nothing to worry about ?

Kiki28 reacted to Svet in May 2023 surgeriesHey, nice to meet you! Good luck to you too! I just came back from my dietician appointment, where I was told to start my preop diet today. I'm trying to choose vitamins and protein shakes, that hopefully will be tolerable, because so far everything I've tried tasted really bad. Anything you found and liked?
