Advanced Recovery shakes
Yeah I have been drinking plenty of other shakes the rest of the time. They didn't sell them. They actually gave them to me. Just one of the worst tasting things I have ever tried to drink. Tried to add peppermint extract to mask the flavor but all it did was make me feel like I was drinking toothpaste and numb my lips lol.

Advanced Recovery shakes
Has anyone been on the per-op liquid diet and had to drink the Nestle Advanced Recovery shakes right before? I am 5 days before my surgery and had to start these and they are so nasty tasting that they make me gag and I have almost thrown them up 4 times. Has anyone figured a work around for this or a way to make them taste better?

February 2023 surgery dates!
I just end up making my own soups with bone broth for extra protein and vegetables and seasings and everything, then just strain the liquid through cheesecloth. It's fantastic. I end up with chicken noodle soup base, pot roast base, french onion soup base, etc. The broths have so much flavor. I swear I used to hate broth and soup but having something savory in addition to those sweet shakes is necessary.

February 2023 surgery dates!
Well day 7 into my liquid pre-op diet. (Bypass on 2/14) I find I go through waves of I got this and I am so effing hungry I could eat a shoe. Overall going ok I guess though. So glad I was told I could season my own broth though as long as it was strained to just be the liquid. Protein shakes are just made too overtly sweet man.

Liquid Diet Struggles
I just started my 2 wk liquid pre-op diet 2 days ago as well and I find the worst part is not being able to have the satisfaction of the chew and that my sleep is so disrupted due to hunger pangs. Hardest thing I have ever done I think.

Same as me! So nervous that I keep having panic attacks. Do you have a 2 week liquid pre surgery diet?

Pre-op Anxiety
Has anyone had pre-op panic attacks? I know there is a certain level of anxiety associated with any surgery but I am about to start my 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet and I am having full blown panic attacks. I have had panic attacks in the past about other things just wondering if this level of anxiety is normal or crazy.

Pre-Op by a month and I'm scared...
Sadly insurance does help often. I am 33 now so been with it for quite some time. The doctor just had a hunch and ordered the MRI for me. Never something anyone is prepared for but it is nice to at the have an explanation that makes sense.

Pre-Op by a month and I'm scared...
It only affects when I walk for too long or am in a very hot environment. All of those are triggers for me. I unfortunately know lhermittes sign very well. Got that one with my first lesion on my spinal cord. I'm glad you're getting better care now. I found out honestly I feel by sheer luck and a really smart doc as I was only 16 at the time. When did you get your diagnosis if you don't mind me asking [emoji848]. Can't believe the NP thought it was arthritis...geez

Pre-Op by a month and I'm scared...
Oh man! I am sooo sorry. I was lucky and didn't get any during my low carb/keto run but I feel we never truly know what will set one off. My very first flare to a diagnosis was with my legs going numb and they have never fully recovered so I get that completely. I just keep thinking about when I had my son and the hormone shock afterwards put me through hell with my attacks. Hopefully with our surgeries being so close we can check in with one another. #Igotyourback

Pre-Op by a month and I'm scared...
Thanks for all the kind words. I think my biggest fear centers around my extended healing time and that putting an unknown into the equation. I have M.S. as well and am actually currently recovering from a really bad broken ankle to boot. I should be walking again by now but my healing has always taken about 3x as long as most... even bruises or like a scrape. I think it has to do with my M.S.(multiple sclerosis). It just worries me about recovering and such as it really is a big question mark in my mind. Trying to breathe through it but this forum is definitely helpful for sure.

Pre-Op by a month and I'm scared...
So has anyone but me been through this? I have been completely gung ho about this surgery and how it may be my best chance at having help in getting my weight off. It's been months of dietary classes, psych evaluations, and 3 hour drives for doctor appointments all leading up to surgery 2/14/23 and now I am completely freaking out trying to figure out if I am doing the right thing. This is all for my 5 year so he can have a mom that is more active with him but I am honestly scared. I am scared I will screw it up somehow. Not entirely sure how to explain it but I guess I am worried about it working/ me not allowing it to work with my willpower. Just scared... Anybody else go through this so close to surgery?

Regret Doing This
Thank you for saying all of this. I'm genuinely really nervous about this type of reaction and reading it didn't help. I am a mother of a 5 year old and this is all so I can end up being a better mom for him. I won't lie though... I'm [emoji32] [emoji79] [emoji33] kinda freaking out.
