  1. You can probably save a lot of dollars by going somewhere else for your 6 month weight program. And, if you have insurance, you can save program fees and a lot more by going somewhere else in the Louisville area. I found one that saves a lot of money and has a really good program and doctor. Saved me $300 right up front with no program fee. They have a toll-free number. 1-888-744-4898.
  2. I've heard many people say talk about the out-of-network problems at that unit. And I've heard about having to do everything up front at Norton's--like the diet eval, the psych eval, the pulmonology consult and other clearances. I've worked in other areas and that seems like a waste to me. I found a place that doesn't charge any program fee, doesn't require all that upfront stuff, and the doctor and hospital are in-network with most insurance. You can reach them at 1-888-744-4898. The doctor is a Center of Excellence surgeon and has been doing bands a long time.
  3. Hi, I dont' know the doctor you reference in your email, but if you're looking for self pay lap band in the Louisville area, there is a place that does it all for $12,500. That includes the doctor, hospital, anesthesiologist, the nutritional eval, and even the first year of fills. I called 1-888-744-4898 (RightWeigh) and they turned me on to this.
  4. Hi, I live in KY and there is a surgeon here in the Louisville area who is doing the lap band for $12500, including everything--hospital, surgeon, anesthesiologist, and nutritional eval. The surgeon gives you a year's worth of fills free. I can give you the information if you want it and if you email me.
  5. Where did you have your surgery that the cost was that high???? You can get this surgery for less than $15000. And, it sounds like the hospital dropped the ball, so I would get them back involved and make them submit the paperwork they were supposed to. The insurance won't send you to collection in 60 days. They want the hospital to pay and send you those notices to make sure you light a fire under the hospital. Make them go to work for you. They haven't been paid either, so it is in their interest to make things happen.
  6. My experience with these weight loss plans is that you absolutely must see your PCP at least once a month to weigh in and have them document that you are still working on the diet plan. If you miss even one month out of six, they can deny you and make you start over. So, don't miss any of your doctor appts.
  7. Hi, As of May 2008, Kaiser in southern California still didn't pay for lap bands, although I had heard that they were considering it.
