  1. I have had all my testing done and finally got my surgery date! November 18th and I am so excited! This site has been so helpful to me that I just want to thank everyone for all the information, the good, the bad and even the yucky. I'm looking forward to my new journey to a thinner and healthier ME!

This website has been a real blessing for me. Between it and my support group, I've had all my questions answered. My support group has bandsters and bypass members but after the main meeting we divide up into our respective groups. For the little tickers at the bottom of the posts, go to tickerfactory.com, click on the weight loss one, then follow the directions. The only problem I'm having right now is remembering not to drink with my meal or too soon after eating or forgetting to take water with me when I'm out running errands. If I don't take the water with me then I don't get enough fluid in for the day. I'm working on it though. I get my first fill Jan. 15. I wrote my goals down so I could look at them when I need to refresh my memory. Above all I want to follow the "rules"! I am doing a low carb - low fat diet, daily walking, and what keeps me mentally motivated is the idea of being able to walk into any dress shop and by something off the rack and it fits! Not having to go to the Bigger Ladies shops!!!

You had some bad days....well, you were knocked down but not knocked out! You've lost 14 lbs. WooHoo! Way to go! You've recognized you have "head hunger", that's half the battle. Don't beat yourself up with guilt. This is not a race, it's a journey and you're heading in the right direction! Be good to yourself. I was banded 11/18/08 and have lost a total of 17 lbs. I tried not to set myself up during the holidays. I knew I didn't want to feel deprived or left out so I told myself to do the best I could and I put no expectations on myself. I was so pleased with myself because I didn't eat like I thought I might even though I did have Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. I even had cookies but I did not over eat and am back on track. Some people might not agree with what I did but it worked for me and I didn't have to deal with all that guilt. I'm pleased with myself and that's all that counts.
  4. coltonwade, we're almost neighbors! Is there a support group that meets in south austin or buda? If so, when is the next meeting? Would love to attend.
  5. Thanks to all for the comments. I just love all the information everyone shares. Dr. Fass is also my surgeon and he really is good. He did tell me not to expect much weight loss the first 6 months. I'm looking forward to attending a support group. I live in southwest Austin and was wondering if there was a group down south or is the only one at Seton Hospital on 38th?
