  1. I've never been a soup eater, but last week I had bronchitis and it's really all I wanted. I ate a lot of Progresso low sodium light chicken and veggies. I still have a cough and find I'm craving soup. My question is, if I eat it, do I eat it as my meal? I was eating 1/2 cup at a time. Do I count it as a meal, or as liquid? Thanx!
  2. Teresa, I also got my letters from my pcp and rheumatologist, but I know in my heart that it was MY letter that made the difference! Good luck; PLEASE let me know how you make out! I will be thinking of you! Nancy
  3. Happy to be here and to know there are so many people in hell with me lol!! i was banded on 12/19. I had no pre-op diet (whooppee) one week of liquids, one week of mushies, and now I'm on softs. I haven't had a problem with any of the foods i've tried so far. I lost 14 lbs the first two weeks and nothing since. I don't quite understand why, since I'm barely eating anything, compared to what I used to eat. I figured with the amount of food I'm eating I should be losing, but from what I've read, this is not uncommon.
  4. I had the same problem. After all my info was sent to BCBS, I was denied because my BMI was 39 with no other co-morbidities. I came on here and found SuzanneG, who offerred her letters of appeal. I accepted and rewrote them in my own words. I explained that even though I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure, I DO have osteoarthritis which affects my hips and knees. I also mentioned that all my doctors have said that without wls, I WILL develop these conditions. But I think the most important part of my appeal letter was when I described the emotional impact my weight has had on myself and my family. I cried while writing the letter. Without Suzanne's help, I never would have known what to write. I was approved. My letter from BCBS said that since my BMI, when I started my journey 6 months earler, was 40, they would approve me! I think it was just an excuse, but I really didn't care why, I was approved. I had my surgery on 12/19. When my dr's office called, two days before my scheduled surgery, to say I was denied, I was in shock!! I'd read about it happening, but never thought it would happen to me. If you would like a copy of my letter, please let me know. Better yet, get Suzanne's; they're amazing! DO NOT GIVE UP - you will be approved!!
  5. I was thinking of getting some protein bars to replace my protein shakes. Does anyone have any recommendations? When did you start eating them and do you eat a whole one at one time?
  6. My nut told me to take 2 multi-vitamins per day and 2 calcium chews. the chewables - yuck, calcium - yum!! I just found out that Viactiv now makes a multi-vitamin. Has anyone tried these? Do you know if they have all the nutrients we need? Thanx!
  7. Tracey, I just found this site! Please tell me about your surgery and how you're doing. I'm having the lap-band on Nov 6th by Dr. Ewing!!
