  4. Well, that's good, you should always go to someone who you feel comfortable with. I work with Dr. Shieh in the OR so I know how he works as a surgeon and was very impressed. Good luck! Let me know how everything goes ok!?
  5. What kind of turkey chili do you eat?
  6. He is an amazing surgeon and such a wonderful person. I was a self pay patient. (no places in florida accept my insurance, and I work for the hospital isn't that nice) anyway, he's the sweetest man ever. I love him! Well, I'd love to meet you and Karen, I emailed her the January support group email and in that email there are the directions and days and where they meet. You can come, they are open to everybody! Hope to see you there. I am going to email you the support groups for January.. In the email they have the directions to get there and the times and locations. Ok! I am in nursing school so I work and am in school alot, so I haven't been in a while. But I'd love to meet you if you go to one let me know!
  7. Hi Karen, I am in Cape Coral Fort Myers area. I was banded August 11. I usually attend support groups in Fort Myers at Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral, Maybe I could take you to a support group one day! Who did your band? Keep in touch!

  10. well, that's good to know. I was so worried about the hair loss. I usually have super thick hair, but it's just really thin around the face and scalp area.
  11. ME TOO, More than half of it, It's horrible. I run my fingers through my hair and it just clumps in my hand. I have bald patches all over my scalp
  12. Oh man, Mine is bad. Does anything help you??
  13. Yes, the texture of mine is horrible!! I used to have super huge curly hair and now it's falling out and like breaking totally off at the roots. It's wirey and awful, I am so bummed. I've only lost like around 50 lbs and it's been a little over 43 months. I am totally bummed out about my slow weight loss and falling out hair. I take Biotin and eat my protien and it's still falling out.
  14. ME TOO. I am doing bad bad bad this week.. but it's the holidays and I am going to kick it back in gear soon!! I swear!!!!!
  15. I am glad that I read this thread. I am really thinking about using smart ones. They seem like the perfect portion and low in calories and fat. Which ones do you like? I work at the hospital and live alone so it's super hard to find quick easy small food portions
  16. What meals do you eat? I see the smartones are pretty low in fat and calories. I think they are great for I am a single person living alone and can only eat a little bit. :huh2:
  17. I too can eat everything on that list. Some days I feel like I do not even have a band in. I have had a really hard time getting enough Fiber in. I've been told to take benefiber. It's an odorless clear fiber you can put in almost everything.
  18. What kind of chili do you recommend? I am getting so bored with chicken and turkey lol. :tongue2:
  19. I found a sugar free Chai at walmart, Oregon Chai. It's delicious, NO sugar either!
  20. Congratulations! I am very excited for you. I work for Lee Memorial Health System, Dr. Shieh is wonderful, I love him so much! There is a support group meeting at Lee Memorial on 41 downtown. This Wednesday in Room 7124 at 530pm with Carrie Blount, There are usually people in there that are ready to have surgery and people that have already had the Lap band. I will tell you, the support group meetings are aweeesome! They really make a huge difference, if you can make a few of them before your surgery you will be really glad you did. Well, I am at work and I have to get going. But please feel free to email me at my personal email address at work is kathleen.roderiques@leememorial.org anytime if you have questions about anything.
  21. I know that he does take lap band patients that have had it done elsewhere, as for the fluro fills, I am not sure. I was just banded on August 11 and actually havent even had a fill yet. Everyone at the office is very nice and can help you. Just tell them that Kathy is a friend and they will get you in.
  22. Aw, Im so happy I could be helpful!! Actually there's a seminar this Thursday at Lee Memorial Hospital (off of 41) I will be there and if you'd like to you can go there and meet Dr. Shieh. He is wonderful, I also work in the OR at Lee and he's a great surgeon and a person. Hopefully I can see you soon! Thanks for the kind words:laugh:

  24. Well, I guess it all depends. My doctor told me no more than 4 oz in an hour. I am having a really hard time getting my fluids in. (I am only 6 days out from my lapband) I have no appetite for annnytthing.
  25. Hello, I had the Lapband on Monday Aug 11. Everything feels good. I had a lot of gas pain and that has been going away. I am having very sharp pains where the port was placed. How bad was this for everyone? Thanks!
