My sleeve surgery was two days ago, April 25. My surgeon now does it as outpatient, unless there are particular health concerns prior to surgery or complications following. I don’t recall being given the option to stay overnight. Surgeon said since I have good mobility and care at home it would be the best option. I’m not totally sure how I feel about it now. I didn’t quite feel ready to leave as they were discharging me only like 5 hours after surgery. And I ended up having severe vomiting for 24 hours, every 30-60 minutes. It was really scary and I would have probably liked having nurses/doctors nearby. It’s passed now.

My surgery was 4/25. GasX was recommended by my Bariatric team. I tried it the first evening and it didn’t seem to help. I then had an extended issue with vomiting so I didn’t continue with the GasX and now it has mostly passed.

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on the morning of 4/25. Most of the gas pain has now largely dissipated. I am trying to walk around as I can. I took som chewable GasX the evening of my surgery but I didn’t notice it helped. I ended up vomiting for about 24 hours straight, every 30-60 minutes starting at midnight after my surgery. That was not pleasant at all and because of it I had to stop taking almost all medication, including the pain meds and GasX. I am also having a hard time getting comfortable and can’t lay flat in my bed or on either side. I’m thankful the vomiting finally stopped but I am in quite a bit of pain still from the surgery. I have been rotating thru a recliner, couch and bed all sitting pretty propped up. Rest is only coming in small increments right now. About 1-2 hours at a time. By the way, I did get 4 different pain meds while I was in recovery, but once they sent me home (about 5 hours after surgery), they only prescribed 5 total pills (Norco).
