I had gastric sleeve in 2004 and my doctor wasn't covered under my insurance, so I self paid. I wanted a DS when I started to regain the 90 lbs I lost in 2010. I went to another surgeon and had the DS, not knowing it was done in appropriately. I didn't lose weight. Fast forward to 2022. I have horrid acid reflux and hiatal hernia. I sit up sleeping due to acid inhalation at night. I go to my original surgeon (out of network). Not only does he expertly fix my hiatal hernia, he found an internal twisted hernia caused by the 2010 surgeon that he fixed and removed. He found the common channel way too long as well as the alimentary limb twice as long. He fixed those as well. The cool thing is I have a recording of the 6.5 hr surgery (well, most of it, the camera cut off at the end).
No more acid reflux - yay! I am healing slower than expected. He had a lot of adhesions to go through since I had a few surgeries since 2004 and 2010.
