Hey I thought I'd chime in! I'm a RNY patient and am 2 years out next month. Most of you don't know me, but a few do. I got down to 170 with the RNY but am up to 190 after nearly 2 years. My pouch isnt as sensitive as it was, then again I've always been hungry. I think Kaiser needs an accountability program for all bariatric patients! But I'm determined to lose 20 lbs in the next few months. Just thought I'd say hello! Hit me up on Facebook (facebook.com/passionbysheena)

Okay now that I got through all of those... I can honestly say the only frustration I have at this point is being able to get in more calories, because honest to god I'm not hungry at all. RNY was the BEST decision for ME! Am I worried about weight gain? Not at all, why? Because my mom had it 6 years ago and she has bad habits. I don't drink - I'm allergic to wine and sulfates I won't test the sugars I WONT eat fried foods, at this point and later one I'd be too scared to dump and don't want to find out if I will. I don't take pain killers, other drugs etc. I'm educated, I go to the post op classes and talk to other RNYers. Is it a concern in the future, yes, but I'm not worried about it. Again, I post on here, because I've been here since way before and I said I'd stick around. I think my RNY case is different than a lot of people's because I did lose a lot of weight prior to surgery and a lot slower. But I had to go through the same thing as all the lapbanders do pre-surgery. All the surgeons are great, Baggs was my discharge surgeon after surgery. Sorry if you all thought I wasn't being honest, but I have nothing to hide. Recovery has been amazing, i'm loving my new body, my new life and everything in between. We go horseback riding on Monday and we're planning on sky diving soon too because I'm small enough to do that. Did I work my ass off to lose the 30lbs yea I did, I gave up a lot too, and my recovery should have been harder with a 2 year old in a body cast, but we recovered together. I think the band is an awesome alternative to the RNY. It is less invasive and adjustable. I however wanted something permanent.

I was walking around and around and around 6 hours after surgery. The gas pain was the only pain I had. I only took pain meds for 3 nights to sleep through the gas pains. Everything has gone down easy, everything I've tried. I walked to my car even though they insisted on a wheel chair and pat parked on the otherside of the parking garage. I've lost 116lbs in 2 years, 30 with RNY and I think that's amazing. That's why we had weightloss surgery, regardless of which one it was, to lose the weight. I'm not trying to sway anyone to rny, but give my store.

I've been on these boards since I was considering the band, education is key in both of these surgeries. I haven't had any complications or anything negative except the two times I got sick because of not chewing enough or eating too fast. Yeah I've stalled for 2 weeks etc. I'm not bragging about my weightloss at all, I come on here to update, I'm sorry you took it that way but that was not my intention.

Ok I have to catch up with all these posts, so I'm going to quote. The only con I've had so far with RNY, is that I got sick off of chicken and deli meat. Even though I had eaten it just fine before. It just felt like heartburn for about 30 minutes and then I got to throw it up. I burp if I eat too much, just like lapbanders. Other than that, I'm still tired, but that's similar with both surgeries. I can honestly say there are no other cons. I have changed my eating habits, I CAN have a bite of sweets in the future, I just have to watch the sugar intake. I'm not sure what else you want me to say, its all in my blog at rny2009.blogspot.com, out of 7 weeks, I've only thrown up twice and it wasnt dumping. I just didn't chew well enough or ate too much. Which is similar with both surgeries.

Dr. Park was my surgeon and she was very educational about both procedures but she educated me about the lap band and RNY definitely fit me better. 30lbs in 6 weeks is great success, considering now I only have 30 to go to my high goal and 50 to my low goal. Either way she expects Ill be there in a few months. I'm not having any more kids and the recovery with the RNY was amazingly easy. I think it was personal preference, but she definitely was a fantastic surgeon, you can't hardly see my incisions!

I think that if you're already in a rocky relationship, that bariatric surgery will severe that relationship. It takes strong happy couples to make it through such drastic changes, because we are changing. I was never thin, Pat's loved me no matter what my size and me him. He was 160 when I met him, was 240 only a few short months ago and now he's down to 215. I finally weigh less than him and we joke up the scale going up and down and how one day i weigh more etc, but soon i'll be way below him. He's happy, because I'm more confident, he hears the word fat a lot less and I'm happy in a bathing suit, even so far from goal. I'm wearing dresses more often, flirting with him more often and not going out with my friends as much, without him. If I go out, I make it a point to hang out with our couple friends, but if I do go out by myself, he trusts me. We'll be together forever, he stood by me during my toughest times during my pregnancy and I'm surprised he did. It's been 8 years already and we have many to go. We are much more active now that I've lost so much weight, I want to go more places, more than we have gone before because I can fit in things, qualify for things (sky diving is on the list) etc. But we also have to remember, if it's meant to be, it'll happen. Sometimes some things just don't work. And you both have to be happy, otherwise it's just not worth it.

Hey all! My internet has been acting up, I'm partying again (only a little over 2 weeks post op). I feel great! The scale will not budge! Ugh... I'm on softs now, Robin said the scale should move quicker. It now fluctuates between 218 and 222 omg! How in the world.. and that's only weighing once. BUT I fit in an XL juniors dress at Pennys and a Large shirt at pennys. I have pictures on my facebook. You can find me as sheena reis Baby is the pic that is up now. Anyways, it's late. Finally got my internet back up. Glad to see a lot of you are doing well!

Liz said dont waste your time, if you're gonna lose your hair, you're gonna lose it and there is nothing you can do to stop it so don't waste your money on products to help with hair loss She used the example of a dog shedding, you can feel the hair coming out, see the hair coming out but the dog isn't hairless lol! So you can see it, feel it, but no one else can tell
  20. I'll tell you why I chose the bypass instead of the lapband: I'm young and have less risk of complication I will not have any more kids I would like to lose most of my excess body weight, if not all of it within a few months The risks were very similar for both (clotting, pneumonia etc) I am almost a week and a half out of bypass and am down 14lbs. I'm a light weight to begin with 234 day of surgery. My goal is 150. I hope to be there by the end of the year :blushing: Be educated in your decision. There are MAJOR differences.

WOW that's a lot to lose! I lost 40 preop in a matter of a few months, 85 over a period of a little more than a year. You can do this, it's worth it. Remember, you just have to lose it and lap band will be your tool to keep it off! I am 25 too, but I have two kids and my surgeon was Park. I wonder if that makes a difference. Good luck and stick to it!

So it's one week post op and I'm feeling almost 100%! I've been on creamies for 4 or so days and I'm already tired of pureed food, but I make it better with chilli and guacamole lol! Good fats, high protein and good calories. So after 1 week, over 5 bags of fluid, I am 224.1lbs! That's a loss of 10lbs in 1 week! Holy Moly! That's amazing. Everyone asks, "can you feel the difference?" Can I? Hmm.. well I can't guzzle water, but now after a week I can take bigger sips. I can't walk too fast or I get dizzy and tired My stomach feels fine, except a little itches because of the steri strips. At 3 days post op I was off of the narcotics and I could sleep in my own bed on my tummy. I love Maryland Style Crab Soup Broth, it's delicious. I tried blending it, but the celery skins bug me for texture. Blended Clam Chowder is alright too. But heck, I'll eat anything to lose 10lbs a week! That's incredible. I am nearly the same weight I was in high school. I remember because for diving I switched the numbers on my physical form from 220 to 200 lol! I was sooo embarassed of my weight but I was a great diver. I'd love to coach one of these days. So this week Cynthia has been coming over to help so Pat could do some work and she could help with baby. Man is he bored, he is ready to jump around, run around, ride around and more. I think he's depressed. Can babies be depressed? Me on the other hand, I want to do too much. Just going to the store is exhausting. Not to mention no belly leverage for pushing the cart lol! Or opening things, cuz it hurts. Last night I did a dumb thing, I jumped on the bed on my tummy! OUCH!! But it's all good, Just stung a little lol. Anyways, that's 1 week post op I love your lady bug! Congrats on being half way!

    ONLY RNYer at LBT??

I had RNY on the 27th as well. Its amazing how different everyone's surgeries and recovery are. I have one incision that's bruised. The rest are fine. I'm not bloated at all (even after 5+ bags of fluid) and I'm down 9lbs. Now let me tell you, head hunger is killer! Ugh..

Hey ladies! Glad to see that you all are doing well! Well so far so good, NO PROBLEMS!! I made deviled eggs this morning, pureed (that was hard) but it didn't taste good so I stuck with yogurt. I had guacamole for lunch lol! I can use the calories! and I'm making chilli for dinner. I got a generic magic bullet today at target. So that'll help. I am down 9lbs and it hasn't been a week yet. The best part? I fit into my 14's!! My slacks anyhow! My 16 jeans without even sucking in. Who am I kidding? I couldn't suck in if I tried, I'd pass out lol the thought of sucking in kills me lol it'd hurt! I'm still up and down tired. But it's all good, 6 days out and I've been to the store and and getting a decent amount of fluids in. Don't be scared of RNY because you'll "never" be able to enjoy stuff, only 30% suffer from dumping syndrome. So far, so good
