  1. I can't have Splenda or Equal. Different nasty reactions to both. I can only tolerate Sweet & Low and have not found any sf drinks. I am hoping to get banded or bypassed in a couple months and not being able to have sf anything while going through the process worries me. Not able to have sugar is not fun either when there are no subsitutes that I can tolerate in sf yogurt, etc. Ideas folks? Anything would be appreciated.
  2. Went to the orientation last night. Dr. Machado is honest, shows her results and her facts & figures. Dry, wicked wit. A lot of info on the band and bypass. Had two patients there to share with us their experiences regarding bypass. Very forthright information, positive and negative. I would recommend you go to orientations that any doctor you're interested in gives. Helps a lot to see how they share info, etc. Good luck!
  3. I'll let you know how it goes tonight. I was refererred to get lap band by reg dr and after researching too - I came up with Waldrep and Machado. Keeping fingers crossed - they both are covered by my insurance. I'm old enough to be your mother!!! Boy oh boy - some days..........
  4. Let me know what you come up with and I will let you know. I go to the Orientation tomorrow under Machado. Haven't met her yet. I was hoping that being a female she would have a good bedside manner. I have heard wonderful things re: Dr. Donald Waldrep in Sacto.,
  5. Thanks for the answers. I'm trying to push for Waldrep or Machado in Roseville if possible. My insurance covers both and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!
  6. Could I ask the name of the surgeon you had at Sutter Sacto? I'm hoping to get my Sutter Regional in Vacaville to get the ok for Sutter Sacto or Roseville to do my surgery.
  7. I'd like to hear more about this. I will probably get banded at Sutter in Roseville - if everything keeps going forward. My BMI is between 42 and 45 so I'd like to know as you do, anyone else banded by Dr. Waldrep or Dr. Laura Machado? I wish you well on your journey to weight loss!
  8. Thanks - I picked it up today. It really bring back lots of memories filling out the why's and wherefore's I got as heavy as I am. Still moving forward! Thanks again.
  9. Can you tell me what types of questions you had to answer? How many diets, diseases, stuff like that? This has thrown me for a loop as I was wrapping my head around moving forward and hope this doesn't put a kabash on things. Thanks!
  10. I just got the call from my general practioner (who recommended LB surgery) that I have to fill out a 12 page survey to even get the referal to the surgeon. Anyone else here have to do that and whadindaheck are they asking that takes 12 pages? This concerns me as I have finally wrapped my head around going forward for the surgery. Thanks for any answers ahead of time. Laura
