Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

Week two/day1 down. Didn't have too much trouble with the rutine, but did notice legs hurting more. Considering I'm still presurgery, I think i'm doing well. Will just keep going at my own pace.

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

Still here too.. Got side-tracked this last week with all my drs appoints and driving. But I'm hoping to get back on track. Completed day2/week 1 today. I used a lower speed and was ableto complete all the run/walk cycles this time without pain. It felt really good to complete one round.
  4. Not sure if this is right place to post...I read (or saw) somewhere that the band is about 20-25 years old. What is the longevity of the band? How long have you had the band and does it ever need to be replaced due to "wear and tear?" Any answers to this would be appreciated from fellow bandsters :smile2:

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

Dionna113-- Bought my wiifit in Pittsfield Illinois, they had six sitting on the shelf and I got the first one after 6pm on Monday. Never thought to try going west of my town instead of east to the bigger town!!! I initiated everyone and it so far has motivated the kids to play more and exercise. I have yet to use again. :smile2: I missed the 2nd day/week one last night. DH had a head-to-toe bady rash of unknown origin. Spent 5 1/2 hours driving to er and WAITING. Turned out to be poison ivy:cursing: from his job working in the woods. So, I hoping (after sitting 8 hours in a hospital meeting for work today) that I can run/walk more tonight and play wiifit of course.

Count me in too. I am a week behind but at least I'm dioing it. Just finished the first. Now, I feel good, but thought I was going to die!!!! I'm sure I will be repeating the first week at least once. My kids are going to try it too. They are 17 and 11 and maybe the 14 yr old. And on a different note I am on my way to pick up a wiifit!!!! So excited:drool::smile2:

    Another new one...from Illinois

My seminar is August 29th and I too have heard about how excellent Hammer is with his patients. I am planning on taking husband with me to have any questions answered. My husband is deaf and I know he doesn't like hospitals or sickness and that maybe because he has a different veiwpoint than I ( I work at SJCH). When I had my gallbladder removed, It was the same concern. When I have asked him about concerns, He says he just doesn't want anything to happen and he would be without me:tt1:(ahhhhh!). Knowing him, the more I talk and show him things about the surgery, the better he will feel about the surgery. I told him that this will give me more time with him in our lives. And, I don't want to die like my mother at the age of 58 because of my weight (and other issues). He does understand, its just the thought of going under the knife he doesn't like. I did show my son on-line surgery from or-live.com and he intently watched. I also told him it would be very similar to the previous gallbladder. So, while I am ready, waiting till January will be best for all.:crying:

    Another new one...from Illinois

sorry for the delay in response...Not yet banded but plan on using Dr Hammer (self pay) and am waiting till January due to my job implementing a new system and no one is taking time off thru december. I think I can wait that long and I really like my boss. My husband though is very worried about the surgery and the extra time will help him address that. He is wonderfully supportive just concerned for me.

    Another new one...from Illinois

I too am from Illinois, around the Illinois River in Naples, A town soooo small that if you blink you miss it. I am really excited to see people from this area on this forum:cool2:
  10. :biggrin2:I have been lurking around this site for about a month or so and decided today to register. I am still in my researching mode awaiting my informational seminar Aug 29 (can't go sooner due to work). I have a friend who was banded in Feb and has already made such amazing results that I began reasearching the procedure. I already know I will be self pay and because of so many information posts here have begun to get my ducks in a row so to speak. A little about me.... I am happily married with 4 kids and have been overweight since my teens. My mother passed away at the age of 58 due to complications associated to obesity. I decided two years ago to not do the same and went from 286(my highest ever) to 221 with diet and exercise. After maintaining (or stalling!!) for a year the weight began to creep back 5 lbs at a time. I can lose the weight but not successfully maintain for long periods. I am not looking to be thin and beautiful, just healthier and happier. I found this site by chance, and it has been the best ever. I don't plan to have surgery until Jan/Feb 2009(again because of work) but am so relieved and excited to begin the journey to the real me. Well now that I have rambled on, This was just to say "Hi!":biggrin2:
