  1. I am one the end side of mushy food, but I am the same way. I am only allowed three 4 oz. meals a day. It is a head battle, because I am still hungry after 4 oz. of food. I know that after I wait my 30 mins. after a meal I try to drink a low cal./no cal. juice or drink or even coffee with skim milk. That seems to help me feel a little bit more full. I am just trying to hold off until my first fill, which is Wednesday. Everyone says that after that fill I won't be hungry like I am now. That 4 oz. will make me full. I can't wait for Wednesday!
  2. The reason I decided to have the band over bypass, wasn't for how fast I would lose the weight. That doesn't matter to me. I just want it gone! I went with the band because it was less risky, recovery time was faster and I felt as though there was more support offered from the surgeon. That is why I went with the band!
  3. I am like you.....I liked the Carnation Instant Breakfast too. I was to mix mine with 16oz of skim milk. I would add ice too. On the days I added ice and blended it, I felt as though it filled me up more.
  4. When my husband had hernia surgery, he used "Auqafor" on his incisions. You can hardly tell where they are now. I am using "Auqafor" on mine. So far they look very nice.
  5. DAnna: I am sorry. I hope the time flies for you. I can understand the filling of being hungry. I do too. I am keeping my thoughts focused, and that is difficult. I am also trying to drink the hunger away. But water just doesn't do the trick all the time. Remember we are all here to support you!
  6. Is he the new doctor in Brevard County doing the surgeries? I heard he just started. Is that true? I heard he hasn't done but a handful or so of surgeries. I don't know where Dr. Domkowski's support groups are. Does he offer them? I know Dr. Fusco does.
  7. My first fill is going to be almost one month from surgery date. I was banded on August 25th and my first fill will be September 24th. Is there a reason you have to wait eight weeks? That just seems like a long time. I hope it flies for you! :tt1:
  8. Hello, I just found this Florida group and thought I would join. I am in Titusville. I was banded on August 25th.
  9. They did not do before pics. I had my husband take mine the morning of surgery, before we left the house. They will weigh you again before surgery. I went and bought a scale that is the same brand they use. That way when I weigh at home I know it is near what they will get in the office.
  10. You should be fine. I know that on the Saturday before my surgery I had lunch as my meal. It was fine. Just as long as you do just the one meal. You will be fine. Good luck during this EXCITING TIME!
  11. I haven't been to a support group meeting yet. So far I have only good things to say about the staff and Dr. Fusco. Everyone there is so supportive. Everyone at Melbourne Same Day Surgery was nice and very caring! It has been an amazing experience. Getting the lap band was my first time ever being under the knife. I have to say I was impressed with how fast I healed and how the staff was ready to help at any time. I wish you good luck on Monday! How is your liver reduction diet going?
  12. I live in Titusville...I was banded on August 25th by Dr. Fusco.
  13. I was the same way the third day out. I just kind of beared with it and by the next day I felt fine. I don't know what it was either, but I do know that it went away for me. I hope you are feeling better soon!
  14. I was told to do "No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast." I was told to mix two packets with 16 oz of skim milk. I did that....It was good to me.
  15. Everyday I am amazed! I was banded on August 25th. I am down 17 pounds. And the weight I am losing you can see in my waist and belly area. Which is nice because previous diets it seems like I would just lose in the face. I can see the beginning of a waist. It just has me so shocked. Plus the fact that I feel GREAT! I am following what the doctor has told me to do. Will the weight continue to come off as steady, after my first fill? (Which is Sept. 24th.) I hope so.
  16. This is what I was told about the band. Some people get 10cc and some get 12cc. I have a 10cc band. I was told that I got that band because it was the band that fit me. I was told that after surgery a lot of people get band envy, but there was nothing better or different about it, expect for the fact that it fit me better. I am glad you asked the other questions. I would like to know the answer to those too!
  17. I don't know if Dr. Fusco's office will do the fill, but you could call over there and ask.
  18. I was banded on Monday and yesterday was my first day without pain meds. That doesn't mean I wasn't in pain. I was very sore, but it was pain I could tolerate. I figured at some point I have to work through the pain. Plus, my liquid pain meds made me very sleepy and everyone said that the best thing for the pain is get up and move. So yesterday I did some shopping, cleaning around the house, etc. I was exhausted and sore by the end of the day, but this morning I feel even better. I hope you find what works for you!
  19. I was banded on Monday, Aug.25th. I am experiencing the shoulder pain too. My aftercare nurse told me to breathe through the pain. I also left the surgery center with a breathing apperatus (spelling). Basically you suck air in, then take your mouth off and push the air out like you are pushing through a straw. I was told to do 10 reps. every 15 minutes while awake. That seems to help a lot!
  20. Tomorrow is the day! I have to be at the surgery center by 11:45am and my procedure is at 1pm. I have been on clear liquids since Friday. I didn't know that jello and chicken broth could taste so good. I think I have finally gotten rid of the headaches. I haven't been able to take anything for them and have just had to put up with them. I hope I am headache free today!
  21. I will find out what the pre-op with the surgeon is like today. My appointment was cancelled due to Fay. The storm left a lot of flooding. I was told yesterday not to worry, my surgery would not be cancelled. So that made me feel a lot better. I am getting nerveous about my surgery. I have never been under expect for oral surgery. So as Monday approaches, I can feel the nerves more and more. I started the liquid liver reduction diet today. I want to eat breakfast, but I just had some jello and water. It is a good thing I will be out of the house today. I won't feel tempted. We will have to keep in touch and support each other. See how everything goes on Monday! GOOD LUCK! :wink2:
  22. I wouldn't think you blew it! I am also being banded on the 25th and I don't start my liquid liver reduction diet till Friday. Even then Friday and Saturday I can have one normal meal a day and liquids the rest of the day. Sunday I have to have all liquids. I think you will be fine.
  23. I am scheduled for surgery on the 25th in Melbourne, FL with Dr. Fusco. I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow! Hopefully I will be able to get to the doctor's office. Tropical Storm Fay has left a lot of flooding in the area. But nothing will stand in the way of me trying to get to the appointment! I have spent the last 8 months doing what insurance wanted and then waiting for their approval. I am not going to get this close and let and T.S. cause chaos!
  24. aremers- I have to ask because I am curious. I have surgery on Monday (25th) and I have read that a lot of people are bloated from the gas for awhile. Are you? I am curious because next Thursday (which will be a few days post op) I will have to go into school to meet my classroom parents and I am worried I am going to be all bloated. I am glad you are feeling good, minus the gas pains!
  25. I won't be able to make Thursday's meeting because I meet with Dr. Fusco late that afternoon. Then I am going over to Christie's for my workout/body assessment. I will have to plan to visit some of the support groups. Only a few more days until the my big Band Day!
