    Athletic Shoe Suggestions

Hoka brand. I was having a hard time on my feet last year pre-surgery and a friend recommended these. I was wearing Aveas previously. They offered arch support but not as mich as Hokas. Super comfortable.

    Vaping pre op

Shame on anyone that would judge you! That would be like someone coming in here shaming everyone for wanting or getting surgery due to eating habits. Since you vape, have you thought about getting juice without nicotine? Also, keep your mind and hands busy. Read a book, play a video game, do gardening... whatever keeps you busy. When you get that craving, drink a glass of water or go for a walk. Shift your thinking. I've been a smoker for years. I quit for my surgery and it was so hard. Good luck!

4 days post op and I'm so hungry!

I am about 4 weeks post op. I thought I was super hungry the first week, but I think it was head hunger. When I started eating food with substance, I got sick. It is okay to eat often. You just can't eat alot. Opt for those thicker shakes. Oh and eat cream of wheat if you can. It helps with BM.
  5. I have been Introducing solids for the past 2 weeks. Constantly overeat and dread the following 2-3 hours. Today my meal was tasting so good. I had about five bites and literally, out loud said, "girl, you do not want another bite. You will regret it!" Lol- so I put it away.

    How do i relate

One thing I found helpful while going through the presurgery insurance hoops was my psych evaluation. She recommended I speak with a therapist to discuss my relationships with people and food. That therapist gave me great advice on how to stop beating myself up over my perceived failures.

    Other reasons for surgery

Everyone is different. Don't worry yourself over it. It's good to be informed to make a decision. Just don't stress. From the posts that I've read, most people stick to their plans and everything is relatively normal.

    Other reasons for surgery

I just had a bypass done 3 weeks ago. So, I'm new, but I am not in the bathroom a lot. I have 2 bm's a day. I had problems with constipation right after surgery, but since then no issues. I haven't had to run to make it either. So, pretty normal.
  9. I had gastric bypass on 2-22-22. I would like to say I'm extremely appreciative for everyone on here. The candid topics of bowel movements, pain in abdomen, food and calorie consumption, among other topics, have been refreshing. (Oh, and tips on how to edit a profile!) I do not really post but I am glad to have this community of peers to help and inform me through this change.

    New and appreciative

I'm doing okay. My surgery was initially supposed to be out-patient, but my vitals dropped while in recovery, so I had to stay 2 nights. The first night I was in a lot of pain and extremely nauseous. The nausea subsided by the time I got home. By the 4th day post op, the pain was just a discomfort; I didn't even need pain meds. I have been focusing on my Protein intake and trying more solid foods. Most things are tolerated. I have been consistently losing .4-.6lbs per day which is nice since my joint and back pain are easing up allowing me to move more. I'm still in the early stages and learning my body. Thank you for asking.

    Dumping or something else?

It looks like we are about the same time in our post op healing. I'm terrified to eat because of that painful episode I had. I never want to experience that again. Hang in there and try new things one at a time. I'm guessing it was the water chestnuts that caused your discomfort. They are probably not soft enough to digest yet. Our pouches are like little babies right now and have to learn what they can tolerate. If you have kids, think back to when you were introducing them to solids. Pureed foods, soft, mushy, and then tougher foods. (I'll remind myself, too.)

    Dumping or something else?

I had a similar problem. I had eaten less than a quarter of a toasted pita. I know I didn't chew it well enough. A few hours later, I had the worst pains beneath my diaphragm. I vomited 3x and was nauseous all night. This "episode" lasted about 6-7 hours. I think it was my pouch rejecting the pita. I'm terrified to eat anything of substance now.
