  1. Thank you all for discussing this. I appreciate all of you for being honest, as it helps a newbie like me know that what I am feeling is normal. I am 16 days post op and today was a bad day. (Back to vomiting and horrible bubbles.). All I have wanted to do all day was lay in the bed and regret my decision to have gastric bypass. Being from Louisiana, life rotates around food, and not being able to enjoy boudin and king cake is a let down. Last night we had family pizza night and I sat there with a spoonful of mashed potatoes. I wanted to cry so bad. So I appreciate everyone’s honesty here. I know that I’m not alone in my thoughts. I know things will get better. I am 4’10” tall and at my heaviest I was 267 pounds, so needless to say I was headed down a bad path, so I know deep down I made the right decision. It’s just rough. Anyway, thank you to anyone who reads this for allowing me to vent. And thank you all again for your stories. I appreciate it greatly!

You got this!!!! (If I of all people can do it, you got this! LOL!!) While I can’t speak for everyone, for me, the worst problem has been the weakness/fatigue. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

What I wish i knew before I had surgery

Thank you!!! Just looked!!! Will come in handy! It’s so hard, especially right now, to drink tiny sips. I just want to guzzle it down. Several times I have made myself vomit by drinking too fast or too much at one sitting. I actually starting putting a spoon in my water and every 15 minutes taking 3-4 spoonfuls. Sounds weird, but it works! I did it all day yesterday without getting sick. And now today, I started sipping without, and whoop I was sick!! (And I don’t know about everyone else, it’s not a very nice taste/smell coming up.).

What I wish i knew before I had surgery

I think for me, the one thing I wish they would have taught is “what is a sip versus what is a gulp.” LOL

Hi! I’m new! Just had my surgery on 1/20. Having bad left shoulder blade pain. Today is also the first day I haven’t vomited. (It’s still early..LOL.) I look forward to meeting and chatting with everyone!! I’m in that “panicky stage” where I’m sure I’m dying and wondering why I would have chosen to inflict this upon myself. (I know in the log run it’s going to be amazing) Cheers! -Christy
