  1. My Surgery date is 2/3/22. I am getting sleeved in Mexico. Pre-op diet starts in about 3 weeks. Who else is having WLS next month?
  2. Wow! Lots of activity as we are all getting our procedures done! I wanted to update everyone. I had the VSG done in Mexico on 2/3/22. This was the 1st time doing medical tourism like this and I felt safe. I was picked up from the San Diego airport at 7:15am and took a short ride across the boarder. My blood work was done, spoke to cardiologist, EKG, X-rays, and surgery team. I had my VSG same day (around 1ish). Protocol for this hospital is 2 nights at the hospital and 1 at a nearby hotel. While most of my surgery siblings (5 of us total per day) were up and walking hours after, I was not. I struggled a bit more. In fact, I nearly slept the entire 2 nights I was in the hospital. We were then taken to the hotel for the last night. I ordered the liquids “Bariatric tray” from room service but didn’t really touch them. The one this I made 100% sure I did was drink water. Again, while some of my surgery siblings explored Tijuana, I slept. I was taken back to the San Diego airport for my flight home on Sunday. I asked the airport for a wheelchair (this was a must for me!!!) hubby picked me up after my short flight back to Az. My plan was to take Mon and Tuesday off, returning to work Wednesday. I spent Monday sleeping and Tuesday becoming more and more dehydrated all day long. Wednesday I located an IV hydration office and felt like a new woman. A few things I have learned about my body in this process: When I need to rest, my body will force it. Dehydration is NO joking matter. My pouch does not like cold liquids (took me a bit to figure this out, I am stubborn) Pain is a sign, listen to it. I am starting to get my full amount of liquids in now 😁 and am moving on to adding protein. . . Slowly.
  3. Lots of people stall at 3-ish weeks. Just keep on the path.
  4. Thank you. The low energy was the worst on Saturday. My energy is back now. Surgery is in 2 days. Tomorrow I am doing clear liquids only. More excited the closer I get.
  5. I am scheduled for 2/3. Today was difficult. Weekends are less busy and I am around all the food. Only a few more days before we join the losers bench! I am on clear liquids on Wednesday. I work Mon, Tues, and Wed so I should be plenty distracted and do fine. I am very low energy today. Excitement builds as we get closer.
  6. Me too!!!! Surgery 2/3 liquid diet begins tomorrow morning.
  7. My preop diet is 1 week of full liquids. There are also some things I was told to cut 2 weeks out (NSAIDS, caffeine, alcohol. . . ) This varies for my doc based on BMI. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. I work outside sales. I drive around all day. My Surgery is on a Thursday, I go back to work the following Wednesday. My doc said some go back to work after 4 days. I am getting the sleeve done.
  8. I live in AZ. My insurance does not cover it. My total out of pocket is $5100 plus airfare. Medical tourism.
  9. Thinking of you today. Good luck and hoping for a speedy recovery. 💜
  10. I suggest toiletries, phone charger (long cord), comfy shoes with a sole that you can slip on for all that walking and chapstick. I will be staying 2 nights in the hospital and 1 in a hotel before flying home. They suggest a small pillow to hold up to your stomach for comfort when coughing or in turbulence, heating pad, loose clothing to wear home.
  11. Yay! I start my liquid diet on Thursday.
  12. So sorry. It will happen though. Just keep up your progress.
  13. I am headed to Tijuana on 2/3/22. My liquid diet starts 1/27.
  14. I have not been told to use an abdominal binder. I probably won’t. @freckledMegan it sounds like you are prepared. The ProteinO2 surprises me. They are delicious. I also drink the Premier Protein shakes and have some unflavored protein powder to add when needed.
  15. I am off caffeine completely now. Headaches from the caffeine withdrawal are gone too. This weekend I stop all sweets. These are usually treats. I do have a big sweet tooth so I am not looking forward to this one. I might start adding protein shakes to get around the no sweet rule hahaha @MimmyMim it is helpful to start tracking early so you get into good habits now. I am going to try starting that too. I am a bit nervous about sipping water instead of guzzling it down like I do now. How is everyone doing?
  16. I am slowly eliminating things from my diet. I cut all carbonation last weekend and caffeine goes this weekend. Caffeine withdrawal is not something I want to go through when I start liquid diet. My caffeine is already been reduced by half.
  17. I am scheduled for 2/3/2022 at hospital BC.
