How soon did everyone start excercising after
wow so many of you started excercising so early? I was told by my doc not to excercise at least 5 weeks. But I dont count long walk as an excercise for myself, cause I was pretty active before surgerey.
-
What do you say when you get THAT question??
I tell them that I eat less and more healthy and excercise a lot.and truly said its true, the band is great help I must admitt but if I eat chocolate or icecream or anything that is not very diet then I dont lose and I gain. The band helps me but doesnt do the weight loss.I dont even have any fill I just have to be disciplined and eat less and go to the gym...Im not lying to them when I say I eat less and excercise more Im just not saying another part that I have something that helps me to keep the portions smaller

I had to go to hospital-long
I went to the hospital where they did the surgery and they specialize in it.No not my surgeon was there but I have met all the docs before so they were fine.I call it water test, but if you even keep water down its bad and you should go to ER.they did gastroscopy I guess they wanted to see if everything is ok with my band and that way they helped me cause I got rid of everything that was in the pouche and of the stuck food. The third time they checked the band and saw that everything is ok:-) It wasnt like a golfball it was really bad I couldnt almost swallow my own spit, and it didnt go away for like three hours so thats why I decided to call the hospital and they asked me to come there right away...

I had to go to hospital-long
Hello Muggle and Jack, well I ate frnech fries before without any problems and it actually might have been the chicken causing problems...Im not gonna solve that now:-) Muggle, I went to the hospital where I had the surgery,I called them before and they asked me to come imediatelly, they even have emergency number so if I have any problems I can call them anytime. It is private clinic but all is covered from my insurance so I dont have to pay anything.I guess Im lucky:-) The water test was helpful if you cant get water down theres problem:-)An I read about it here at LapBandTalk, thats what pushed me to call them oherwise I would be suffering longer hoping that it would go down. Jack trust me Im not gonna eat french fries anytime soon:-) have a good day and thank you for your support :-)

I had to go to hospital-long

I had to go to hospital-long
Hey everybody, I just have to tell you about my traumatizing experience. Ok yes Im stressed cause this week I have been to work everyday for 14hours, so it might be due to stress as well. Yesterday I had for lunch some fresh chicken breasts steak and frenchfries...I dont eat french fries on regular basis but I just had them. After few bites I fell that something is stuck. I thought it would be the normal case - golfball- but after three hours of trying to vomit and lots of sliming it didnt go away. The last thing I tried was to drink a glass of water...it was even worse and I felt like my esphagus is going to burst. Well then I started to vomit the water.I called the hospital and they asked me to come right away. So I did, Im not gonna describe the journey to hospital, but the cab driver wasnt probably very happy that he had to drive me..lol I came there they unfilled that 1cc that I had in my 10cc band, but it didnt help so they made the the gastroscopy. Let me tell you they had to do it three times without any aenesthisia....I was crying like a baby. I threw up the food first two times and the third time they checked if my band is ok.My band is fine, thank God. ´ I had to stay in the hospital over the night, cause they wanted to check up on me and to make sure I drink enough water... It was terrible and this is not going to happen ever again! Now Im on liquids for a week and then on mushies for another week like after the surgery... Oh well I might loose more, but its not very healthy...

Tracking obsessively?
Hey Doobie, if you eat right than toss the scale:-) Im quite obsessed as well but I weight myself only mornings, theres no point of weighting yourself during the day cause you drink and eat and thats why you weight more. I think weighting every morning is too much as well but I cant help it:-) Sometimes when the scale shows more I dont weight for two or three days and if I eat well and excercise then definitely in three days I see the difference on scales.:-) good luck

Energy Level
Hi I know that feeling but its normal since your body was used to get like 2000cals (mine at least was) and now in the begining you are consuming not more like 500.the body needs to get used to it.to me helped that I drank normal grape or black currant juice, nothing sugarfree at least not in the begining:-)

Successful Band Stories here!
Great thread I love it. Ok got my band 25/04/06 so 5,5 months ago. Im down 47 pounds, gained back my confidence.Feel much better, men are actually looking at me not in the way she-has-pretty-face-but-is-too-fat.Im not depressed anymore and Im thinking of gaving up my depression pills (the ones I have slow down the weight loss a bit). Im much more active Im not ashamed to go out anymore. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, I feel great. not anymore wrong types of guys approach me, cause they feel Im not submissive anymore and they couldnt order me around.... I can shop in normal shops again and let me tell you Im shopping like crazy:-)) Life is just great.I would go for the band in a heartbeat again.

Pills and the Band
Thats sounds horrible. I guess that beacuse I only had one fill Im able to swollow 3-4 pills (not small ones) at once withouth any problems. It definitely helps that I drink like two cups of water with the pills to flush them dow.
-
Bra Sizes Before/Now
I was 38C-D and Im still 38 C-D depends on the cut

Confused
Hey Mark, you are male and you dont have much to lose.I dont think you need the band do you have any comorbidities? I wouldnt do it you have "only" 40 more pounds to lose. I love my band but I also have to lose much more weight. How come that they would give you the band? Here in Czech Republic, Europe you wont get the band if you arent over BMI 40, even if you want to pay for it. Good luck to you anyhow you decide!

What Foods Cant You Eat?
I cant eat bread any fluffy or soft pastry rice codfish (its too dry) Very sad is that I can easily eat any junk food. You name it pizza, hamburgers (dont like them too much), french fries, anything. But I try to stay away from it and I was never used to eat it on regular basis.

April 2006 Bandits October Challenge
Today I wanted to get up early at six and go to the gym.ha ha ha never happened:-) cause its cold and raioning its hard for me to get up.But I will definitely go in the afternoon I even took my bag to work. Since I started going to the gym regularly I feel I have to go there, not that Im addicted to the endorphine:-) nor to the excercise (I would rather be a couch potatoe) but because Im dreaded that I will fall out of the routine. Truly said I cant say I like the excercise or that Im addicted to it.And I have a hard time believeing people who say that, but I guess its just my problem:-))lol How do you feel about excercise is it something you love to do or you just do it cause you know you have to?:-) Julie Im your inspiration? You are crazy girl :-)) You are my inspiration you have lost almost 100pounds in 5 months I only lost 48 pounds or so:-)You go girl!!

SHARE... what you've learned after Banding
I learned that Im able not to eat all thats on a plate (and not because Im full but because I order myself or I just dont like the food)...used to eat everything almost licked the plate (even if it wasnt very tasty, terrible I know):-)) head hunger is so difficult to manage, but Im learning to overcome it step by step...cravings are terrible as well and sometimes Im just not able to resist it as someone said the dessert or any other yummy food doest taste as good as my kilos down:-))

How many calories a day do you eat?
I try to eat 900-1200cals a day. On good days I have a bit over 800cals and on bad days way more than 1200cals I would say something around 1600cals. I feel bad even with eating 900cals cause my doc said I should be eating way less. She thinks I can exist on 600cals. Sorry cant do that. But I try to make healthy food choices.

Compliment Chain
BigPaul always makes me feel really good about myself. He's funny and silly but really smart right when you need him to be. DeLarla TellyMelly keeps me motivated on days I think I want to slack and theres always a smile on my face when I'm talking to her, she just keeps me laughing. She brightens my day! Cutiern reminds me of my daughter. I love how she is young, independent, and willing to make financial sacrifices to change her life. Dawg is a great husband. Selfless and supportive. He lives a banded lifestyle, without the band, so that he may succeed along side his wife. Pennie always seems so level-headed and diplomatic. I really admire that. Jack cracks me up with the use of his warped sense of humour in the manner in which he offers practical advice. Humour and practicalilty...great match and I always appreciate his input. (I also like his avatar!!) The best me (Kathy) has one of the most loving and tender hearts I've ever seen. She is always caring and giving to others even when she's needing support for herself. Her love of God and her desire to be a better servant shows in every post. Paula is my sweet Band-daughter and I'm so proud of how genuinely sweet she is and how her caring heart and love of God shows by her actions towards all others Iluvharleys has a good heart and is always so thoughtful, kind and caring always thinking of others in their time of need. NJChick (Eileen) Cracks me up!!!! She brings a smile to my face no matter what the topic. Bandland would be a boring place without her : - ) VinesQueen reminds me never to give up no matter how bad things seem at the time and encourages me that I should dance my heart out no matter whos watching~and I wish she would hurry up and get back on LBT!!! Michelle, without a doubt the most inspirational person to me. Even while having her own family problems, she finds time to come here and offer her help. She's a great person! Susan (PhotoNut) is one of the most supportive and knowledgeable people I've ever known. EmileeKaye is the sweetest, most genuinely nice and wholehearted bandster and online personality I have ever met.. and I have met quite a few. The sun shines on her goodness and it feels really nice to surround myself with people like this. K@t has been my friend and support since the moment I joined this group. She listens and gives without asking in return and makes me feel anything is possible. DeLarla is my vision of independence, strength, wisdom and trust and has always been a person that speaks her mind and has gained a tremendous amount of respect from me as an intelligent and witty person. StrawartS is smart and funny, and she has the strong personality I admire, yet she's kind. Plus, her screen name is a Palindrome. It's spelled the same backward and forward. Very Cool. Kathy (best me) Jenna (princess n thep) is always honest and straight foward. And she is a great booty dancer. Kathy was kind and gentle with me when I was cursing over my first PB. I was shocked by her generous spirit at first, but now I see that that's how she treats everyone. And her baby is pretty cute. And I don't even like babies. The NJ Board: I can't chose just one person because so many have come to my rescue. They give their heart and soul and they do it with compasion and love. *Cheers NJ Board, I Love You ALL* Since I have known Mychevygirl (DeAnn), she has shown incredible inner strength, focus and determination in the midst of extremely trying times. She has kept a positive, happy attitude in spite of the stresses she has endured, and she has a smile that shines through her words because it comes from her heart. FunnyDuddies is a beautiful, intelligent, loving woman who's quick witt and sense of humor is a blessing to those around her. She makes me smile, and I feel so bless to call her my sis. She has also earned my respect and admiration for showing a deep inner strength during times of adversity. MoOrless is another one of my personal inspirers. She has lost weight all on her own. Reading her posts have been a great eye opener, showing me that weight loss is nothing more than willpower and self-control, which she displays very well. She cheers me on as I do my wild goose chases with myself and she keeps me motivated, letting me know daily that every goal I set for myself, no matter how outlandish it may seem, is very possible and attainable. I thank her for believing in me, (a complete stranger). Alex is the best thing ever...he has given us this board as a place to learn, laugh, commiserate, cry,...pretty much whatever we are in need of!! And...he just keeps making it better!!! Thanks, Alex!!!!!!! I have to have a second go at this! MoOrless keeps me going in ways I never thought I'd need. She is working and trying so hard to lose the weight on her own as well as coping with health problems. She finds positive ways around her setbacks that put me to shame and motivate me all at the same time. Kind words and thoughts for others come easily to her and she makes me smile. Alexandra seems to always be there when a thread gets hairy. She has the ability to listen with an open mind and heart, to sympathize and give a reality check in just a few short lines. I have noticed that she remains detached, but flexible. Harleynana (Pat) is one of the smartest, kindest people I have ever met. She talks like a sweet southern belle, but she's also a tough cookie who is generous and supportive without fail. And to all the NJ Chat gals who welcomed me into their midst even though I live in Michigan - your support and friendship has meant the world to me. I love this board. It makes me laugh. It makes me think. It makes me mad. It inspires me. It give me good ideas. It gives me advice. Most of all, it makes me feel I am not alone in this struggle, that I am part of a community with one goal... to reclaim our health and our lives... to live better, and be better. We may not always see eye to eye, but we are all better for knowing each other. mini_me is in my book! Nana~ (aka "plunderbunny") inspires me with her carefree attitude. Because of her, I wore my Pirate gear when we went to see the new Pirates movie. Your style and panache inspire me to be me. (Vinesqueen) Vinesqueen is an absolute treasure. She has the most amazing ability to be enviably strong yet human, in the face of outstanding challenges. She always takes time to remind that's it's health first, and that our health supercedes everything, including our weight. Plus her journal really rocks. She's a jewel! There's a lot of people on here that have inspired me and some of them have already been mentioned so I think I would pick JMO and KMO, they have both been very inspiring to me along with everyone else. These 2 rock. oooh i always read post by jack and wheetin they always have so much helpful info!!! La Madam always encourages me through her strength of will and personality. I have never for a moment doubted that she will be able to maintain even if she is "flying solo." There are people who claim to be straight talkers, and then there is the real deal, La Madam aka Michelle (Vinesqueen) Kabeerah has always impressed me with her quiet strength. She has gone against the prevailing customs of her culture in getting the Band. She’s been an amazing resource for the women in her country, translating information. (Vinesqueen New Sho whether she knows it or not has been an inspiration to me. She always posts informative well written posts and isnt afraid to say what she thinks. I admire her "online" personality. A1ikou has been the best listener and help to me even when times have been really hard she doesn't try to push me or shove any tough love on me because she know's it won't work...plus..shes in Greece...how cool is that??? All the above mentioned people have been a great inspiration and helpful in times of need...this was a nice thread to read. Bettina~I have seen her on the boards before but I just actually "met" her today and we both have something in common~a great sex life! LOL! And we are both witchy women! I have respect for everyone on this forum and have enjoyed talking to everyone and going on this journey with them. And I can't forget to mention~Heathergurl! Fellow Texan...she always makes me laugh and is as sweet as she can be! (Kathy473) Tricia has been a great friend these past few months. Not only does she listen to me when I need to vent, she is also there for me during my triumphs, cheerleading me the entire way. She's honest and very blount about things and I admire that greatly. Most of all, she's real. That girl is my heart! MoOrLess has been a wise..yet objective voice that consistently whispers into my ear when I fall clear from the path. She smacks me when I'm being ridiculously hard on myself and she makes me see just how "Not so serious" things really are. She takes away my anxiety. She should be a therapist. She's a great friend. Ali1kou - I rarely find qualities of a lady from the 1950's. The kind of woman that is really all about class and femininity, beauty and taking care of her husband. A friendly, yet debonaire kinda lass, courteous and sophisticated charm. Ali, I think you are all of these things. I invision you with Christina Aguilleras 50's hair and gorgeous outfits because I feel that you are from that era. I love your personality and your style. Teresita is a great inspiration. She is always upbeat and keeps all of us Marylanders on our toes. Keep up the harrassment T, we need it. Telly_is huge inspiration for me.I admire how devoted she is to her weight loss and she is so positive! I would love to have her will. Amourette is really caring and nice. She always knows whats right to say and she supports others.
