  1. I forgot to mention it was chocolate flavor. I am sure you can add whatever you thing will taste yummy too it. I am not sure if it comes in different flavors or not, I am a chocolate lover so it gives me my taste of it!
  2. I use a Protein shake powder that I get from walmart, its called "Body Fortress Super Advanced whey Protein" Its only 100 calories for 1 scoop and gives an extra 26 grams of protein with only 3 grams of carbs....it also has a lot of other fun stuff we need! I typically mix it with 1/2 cup of skim milk and 1/2 cup of Water (so I dont add to many carbs or calories) I have to wake up at 0430 am for work so I usually make it the night before in a shaker drink container so I can just grab it on my way out the door. I do find I like it better when it sits pre-made over night rather than when I make it and drink it right away. (I think it has time to dissolve better and doesn't taste gritty) It is pretty inexpensive too...$13 and it lasts about a month!
  3. Thanks Denise!! I went back through the zillion pages of this thread and found the recipe! I also found a link that Holly posted with some low carb recipes! Thanks Holly, those all look yummy but I may attempt to make the recipes with less fattening items. Hopefully it will taste just as yummy as theirs looks! Mamato, don't get discouraged! It will come back off! You look wonderfully beautiful in your new picture you posted! I am trying to keep my carbs under 40, so far so good, I still have my one sinful thing a day with a sugar free jello pudding!
  4. I can eat boiled eggs!!!!! I am still afraid to try the scrambled again though. So far just the one fill of 3.2 cc.
  5. Hi everyone, well this was my first week on the low carb and high protein diet, (4th day in) I have been keeping my carbs under 40, I know it's not as low as some people keep it but I figured I would ease into it. It is a lot better than what I was doing! I have lost 3 pounds so far, and on my ketone sticks it only shows that I have a trace amount. How long does it take to see the level increase? I have been living on hard boiled eggs, canadian bacon, turkey bacon, chicken, boca burgers, salad, green beans and my one sin I allow myself, crunchy peanutbutter! (I came into this world with this craving). If anyone has meal idea's let me know! I am going to attempt to add some seafood this week, I am not a big fish person but I love shrimp and crab legs and lobster (can get pricey though). I hope everyone has a groovy weekend@@!!!!!!!
  6. Hey Sandy I am so excited that you are getting closer to your surgery date!!! Good job on the 5 pounds down!! I need to try to start working out more this month. That is one of my mini goals! I was on a role but my nickname in my family is "Grace" for a good reason! I was cleaning the pool and stepped down wrong last month and fractured my foot, it is finally starting to feel better so I am planning on getting back on track with exercise! Keep me updated! When do you plan on flying out?? I will keep you in my thoughts! April
  7. Hi Skinny, Thanks for the support, I went in for what I thought was going to be my second adjustment, but the dr was happy that I had lost 6 pounds this month and didnt think I needed any more restriction, he said that I could expect to plateau now and again and my body would catch up with it. He said they expect to see 5-8 pounds a month, and I knew that going into getting the band, I think just in the back of my head I was hoping for bigger numbers! Oh well, I will keep on trucking, pick up on my work outs and see if that makes a difference! How has everyone been doing on here!! doesn't look like to many people are talking???!!!!???!! Have a wonderful week everyone!!
  8. HI everyone! Well I went back for what I thought was going to be my second "fill", but he said that since I lost 6 pounds this month that he didn't want to adjust my band anymore He said an average that they want to see is between 4-8 pounds a month, which I knew that going in and I am super happy that the 6 pounds are gone forever now, but at the same time I wanted to see bigger numbers and felt maybe I could use a little more restriction. I see him again in 4 weeks so I guess we will see. So.... I guess I am not waiting until the end of the week to start my low carbing! BTW, Kami~ I think I may have read a post that you were questioning about why some of us are low carbing, the way my surgeons group explained for us to eat was that we are to have a protein a veggie and a fruit on our plate. Eating the protein first then veggie then fruit, hoping that the protein will fill us up faster and keep us full longer rather than eating the carbs. I dont know if that helps...but thats what he reminded me of again today. mamato~ congrats on the weight loss! I can't wait to be in onderland!! Well, I guess on a positive note, that after a 3 week plateau, I finally lost a pound on Saturday!!! So I will see how I do with this coming month attempting the low carbing! Have a wonderful week everyone!! :tt2::tt1::eek::w00t:
  9. Thanks everyone for the warm welcoming! I am looking forward to starting low carb eating! Thanks Bloo for the the link, that made it nice and simple! Hope everyone has a good weekend! I will be enjoying my last couple of days of carbs!
  10. Hi everyone! I was banded on May 13, 2008. I had my first fill on June 23 and after the first week with the fill the scale stopped moving. I am due for my second one on Monday July 21. I also suffer from PCOS, I was diagnosed 17 years ago when I was 15, so I have all of the classic attributes from it! Diabetes, high blood pressure, irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and weight gain. I have never tried a high protein, low carb diet aka Atkins plan, so I may need some advise from some experienced people! I plan on starting next week after I get my fill. My doctor has me do 2 days of clear liquids and then 2 days of full liquids/soft foods before advancing back to regular diet. After my last fill I attempted scrambled eggs and that did not set well with me at all, I took 2 bites and I was running to the bathroom, I have been scared to try them since. Can someone please explain how to calculate a net carb? Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!!!
  11. Hi everyone, Im starting to get upset here, It has been a few weeks since I have seen the scale move, I dont understand how I can be eating between 800-1000 calories which are all healthy choices and I am not loosing any weight. I go for my second adjustment on Monday, I would just like to see the number go down some. Sorry for venting.
  12. Thanks Bug! It's nice having local support. This website has so many things to read and placed to get advice from! I am glad I found it!
  13. Hi Sandy, I use to work for St. Joseph's, my husband still does, so if you have the insurance that Baycare offers, I know how horrible it is. The place I work now is a tinge better, but not much. Are you a nurse? At least you get to see family and what I am sure is a beautiful state (I have always wanted to go there). I will keep you in my thoughts as you head up that way in a couple of weeks! Good Luck!
  14. Hey Sandy, I am a self pay also. You would think that one day the insurance companies would figure out it will be much more expensive in the long run to pay for diabetic and high blood pressure medications and then all of the other tests and hospital bills down the line than to just shell out this one lump sum and pay for the surgery. We used Capital One Finance, I come from a long line of brittle diabetics, when I turned 30 I was diagnosed with diabetes myself, my husband and I weighed out the options and decided to pay for the surgery rather than pay with my health later on. I am already off of all of my medications and feel so much better than I did! When do you have your surgery scheduled for? Will you have to fly back up there for all of your fills or just find a doctor down here to take care of that? Good luck with everything!!! April
  15. Hi everyone! I'm from Odessa/Land O' Lakes area. I know of support groups through JourneyLite. I had my surgery done at their outpatient center in New Tampa and they do have a support group there once a month. Hope that helps with location!
  16. Hi everyone! I am from Odessa, Fl. In Pasco Co. north of Tampa! Glad to see some other people from Florida on here! I had my surgery through JourneyLite with Dr. Grossbard on May 13, 2008.
  17. Hi! I could use a friend and be a friend also! I am 2 months post op with 1 fill down and the 2nd scheduled for July 21st. I live just north of Tampa, Fl with my hubby, 2 beagles and a cat! I have been reading a lot on this site, it seems like we do have a lot of support here! Which is nice since the support group I go to only meets once a month! I wish everyone well on our journey!!!!!
  18. I had no problems with anything until I had my first fill. I attempted scrambled eggs and they did not stay down. I took 2 bites and spent 30 minutes in the bathroom. A few days later I tried baked turkey breast, it was very tender and I chewed the one and only bite very well, but as soon as I swallowed I was in the bathroom. I have not attempted either of them since. I go for my second fill on July 21st!
  19. Hey JB, How have you been? So you had your second adjustment! What you described is how I currently feel with my first adjustment. I feel a yucky pain in my chest, it goes away and then I am able to eat the rest of my meal. I am still stuck on the scale, just moving between the same 2-3 pounds which is aggravating. I go for my next adjustment on July 21st. I have seen that may people start to get more of a restriction after the second one, so hopefully that will happen for us!
  20. JBFlorida- How are you doing so far? Have you had your first adjustment yet? who was your Doctor? Mine was Dr. Grossbard and Dr. DiCicco through JourneyLite.
  21. Hi, I'm from Odessa, Fl, about 15 minutes north of Tampa. I was banded on May 13, 2008.
  22. Hi everyone, I am new to this site and to being banded! I had my surgery on May 13, 2008 and my first fill on June 23, 2008. I have lost a total of 36 pounds so far with 82 more to go. I am taking this one week at a time! I don't really feel a huge restriction, which I expected after my first adjustment, I have my second one scheduled for July 21, so hopefully I will notice more of a difference in my appetite and on the scale. I wish everyone the best on this journey we have started!
