isagarza22 reacted to Krimsonbutterflies in Clothes?I've already purged my closet and I kept what I wanted to keep. I will have to buy clothes, as my size 14 pants were starting to get extra baggy prior to surgery. I have some really nice pieces that'll be altered once I make it to the maintenance phase. My button down shirts will now become shirt dresses, used for layering and I will donate pieces that I don't love. Jeans and work pants will go to women shelters or to my church. I will go to the Goodwill or somewhere very affordable during the rapid weight loss process. I plan on paying it forward. I'm blessed to have this opportunity, even though I'm struggling right now.

isagarza22 reacted to PolkSDA in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go firstBeing able to buy clothes "off the rack" rather than having to go to a DXL store. It's amazing the difference in cost. When I started the journey I had a 56-inch waist, which non-Big&Tall stores just don't stock.
I've been reluctant to invest a whole lot of money in clothes as I've been losing weight, as ideally I will continue to lose sizes for a bit longer, so why pay for clothes I'll (hopefully) only wear for a couple months. It's like the reverse of being a kid/teenager, when Mom would get frustrated that I outgrew clothes yet again.
However, at some point the old clothes start looking awful, like you're wearing a tent... not to mention heavy and uncomfortable AF. Being in a transition state with sizes and not wanting to spend money, I went to Wal-Mart and bought some $10.97 jeans... first time wearing jeans in over 30 years. Hard to wrap my brain around it... the jeans weren't unbearably uncomfortable. I was able to buy 44-inch waist and now several weeks later, they're already feeling a bit loose. My next shopping trip, it might be 42.
They had a bunch of dress shirts on clearance that rang up at $2. The XL (down from 3XL) fit easily. At that price, who cares if they fall apart in a few washes.
A whole new world: Being able to shop clothing sales and clearance. That hasn't been part of my life in many many decades.

isagarza22 reacted to HealthyLifeStyle in How do you Cope?I go for a walk or a car ride with my dog.
I go to this website every day. Sometimes to comment but a lot of times I just like to read what others have to say.
I do crosswords. Watch YouTube videos. Listen to music. Read books.
Now that it is finally getting hot, I will be spending a lot of time in my parents pool. They only live 10 minutes away.
I love to organize, label, clean out closets, etc. My hubby doesn't like it when I do it because I am always getting rid of stuff. LOL
For 2 months I raked my entire yard and burned leaves. I have an acre of land and did it all myself. It was very hard work, but I loved it. It kept me busy, gave me exercise and now my yard looks awesome. Now I can to start decorating outside.

isagarza22 reacted to ShoppGirl in How do you Cope? This may sound and even look to some like I am crazy but when I am stressed or anxious the last thing I want to do is a change of clothes to “work out” so I cleared a path from one end of my house to the other and I will just walk back and forth inside in the air conditioning so that I don’t get all sweaty and need a shower and change of clothes. I also do this when I am on the phone and when I am thinking about food to distract myself and according to Apple Watch I get like 45 minutes to an hour of exercise without really even trying.

isagarza22 reacted to BriarRose in How do you Cope?Make a list of things you love to do but don't get to do often enough..... list all the craft ideas you would love to do - and order yourself some ! Make that list ahead of time and make sure that you have the ability to do most of them --
Some of mine are:
clean out one drawer (feels great afterwards !)
deep condition my hair
garden ! (rake leaves, plant something, weed, sweep)
Play with the dog - dog walk - dog on car ride -
Take a nature walk
walk at outside mall and window shop
Yoga and if that is too much, Yoga breathing with my feet up against a wall for 20 minutes
Call a friend
Write old fashioned letters/cards to old friends/family
Sit outside (if you do not have a yard, try a park) and watch the birds
read a great book.
