  1. I absolutely don't want this to happen again. It's horrible and it's no way to live. I go this thursday to start the fill process all over again. I'm really gun-shy about this. It's almost like it's a pain management deal. I had no clue it would be like this, BUT...I'm going to keep trying. I've gone thru an aweful lot to be where I started. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...
  2. Last thursday I went for my 3rd fill. I was at 5cc's and my dr. put me up to 6.5. I couldn't drink my water at his office so he immediately took out 1 cc and left me with the additional .5 cc. I still had problems drinking my water but was told that I might have swollen a little so off I went thinking I was going to be fine. We'll during the course of the evening every single ounch of water I tried to drink came back up. NOTHING would go down. So I called my dr. on Friday morning to state my problem and was told that my stomach did in fact swell and to wait a couple of days and it would be better. It did NOT get better it got worse. It seemed my body was trying to throw up even my own saliva. So Sunday a.m. I called my dr with an emergency call and he said to immediately go to the hospital to get totally unfilled so I could heal. What a horrible experience that was as I thought the doctor there was going to rip my insides out before he could find the port. I have to wait 1-2 weeks now before I can start the whole ordeal all over again in getting filled. I'm just wondering has this horrible experience happened to anyone else and is there a reason for all the swelling???? I'm scared to death to get filled again.
  3. My second fill put me at 5cc's.... I'm sure tomorrow it's going to be more. It looks like my Dr. is a little more aggressive than yours. I'm not sure why they wait so long to get restriction there, but they do. Maybe it just takes time for us to get used to it.
  4. I was banded July 31st and have had 2 fills already. I go for my 3rd fill tomorrow. I have been able to eat most days like I was never banded. My hunger has been there although sometimes I've had good restriction but it doesn't last. Some people can't eat hardly at all. That hasn't been the case with me. I'm hoping after tomorrow that I will finally get control on my hunger and also on how much I can eat. I would say just hang in there. My Dr. told me after 3-4 fills I should be getting where I need to be. I am praying that is right as I didn't do this for nothing. If I had control of my eating I wouldn't have done this, but I don't. Good Luck for all of us...
  5. Does anyone know if the office of Dr. Spiegel is closed in Houston due to Hurricane Ike??? I haven't been able to get thru to their office and I have a fill scheduled for tomorrow. Thanks
  6. OMG I am so glad to know that I am NOT the only one who thought they were failing. I haven't lost but 5 pounds and I was banded on July 31st. I thought I am going to be the only one to fail this. I can't believe it. Now I have hope. I had my first fill two weeks ago. At first I couldn't eat much but that lasted only about 2 days and then wham...no restriction so I've been able to eat as much as ever. I'm trying not to but it's just so hard. I go for my second fill on 9/18 and am praying for some restriction. I can only pray it works as I didn't have this surgery for nothing. It's just good to know others have had the same problem. Thank God for this website. It's a life saver.
  7. I was banded on July 31st. with Dr. Spiegel. I have nothing but good things to say about him. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and so far I've only lost 10 pounds total. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I still feel hungry too much, but I'm trying not to overeat. I go back for my second fill on the 18th. He said that I wouldn't be able to do this with will power only that is why I'm banded. That made me feel better. He told me it might take 2-3 times getting a fill until I don't have the hunger I'm experiencing now. So I'm hopeful. One day at a time is how I take it. At least I'm not inching up the scale.
  8. I was banded July 31st...And am getting my first fill August 21. My 3 week mark. Has anyone else been filled so soon??? Just wondering.
  9. I am so glad to see that I'm not the only one starving. I was banded July 31st and I was eating mushies the first week because I was starving. I can eat normally right now with no problems, but I'm not eating bread. Seems like the soups just stay with me an hour. I'm not trying to eat bad things, just trying to eat something that will stick with me for a while and I'm only 11 days after banding. Kinda crazy I know, but at least I'm not the only one going thru this. I go for my check up on the 7th. I'm just hoping i get a fill soon or I'm going to weigh more after banding than I did before.
  10. I had no pre-op diet at all. I went to a seminar on July 3rd. Saw the doctor that day and he said my BMI was over 40 and I shouldn't have any problems with my insurance. I got called 1 1/2 weeks later that my insurance was approved 100% and my surgery was on July 31st. I had no problems at all. I am so glad I had the insurance I have because some of the stories are nightmares on what people have to go thru.
  11. I got banded July 31st.... I'd be glad to share stories...
  12. I was banded on July 31st and I stayed on liquids the first 2 days then started with creamed soups, etc. I've had no problems at all. I wasn't sure if this was normal either, but it's working. I've lost 5 lbs so far.

1 week before surgery - I will post pictures through out the whole process of losing weight. I hope it helps encourage others to take that first step.
  14. I was very impressed with Dr. Spiegel and his staff. I haven't had the surgery yet, it's scheduled for July 31st. I will post afterwards, but I have all the Faith in the world it's going to be a great experience.
  15. I don't have my consultation until July 16th and the suspense is killing me. I'm looking for support groups in Katy Texas because I'm going to have this done even if my insurance doesn't approve it.
