I have the same issue. I’m 3 days post op, and I feel the hunger, and I’m able to eat when I want to. The restriction is there, but I would have expected to feel more of a restriction. Also, my taste buds haven’t changed. My doctor allowed me to go onto a puree diet right when I got home. I’ve been able to eat ground pork with onions with no problem at all. The day before I was able to eat small slices of steak and 3 miniature snickers bars. I’m still losing weight because my portions are so small.

Hi all, Had my gastric sleeve surgery on 4/5. For the first 24hours, I didn’t have much room to even sip water. I tried to get in about a half a cup throughout the day. Pain wasn’t too bad, the meds certainly helped. By today, 4/7, I was actually able to chew and consume small pieces of steak and French fries. I was also able to consume 3 miniature snickers (spread out over a few hours). I didn’t feel much pain, but I didn’t feel a sensation in my chest that indicated to me that I was full. I am supposed to be on a full liquid diet, but I wanted to test out whether my taste buds have changed. Apparently they have not. Has anyone else had this experience so early on?

Hi all - I have my sleeve surgery in about an hour. Have read up on this forum for weeks now, and it has been extremely informative and supportive. I’m 6’ tall and my max weight was 360, right around the start of my preop diet 2-weeks ago. I’m now at 345 going into surgery. I’m having my surgery done by New York Bariatric Group. Hope all goes well. I have a mix of nervousness and excitement. Will update the forum on how things went.
