  1. Hi all, I'm Jen and I also live in the Woodlands (Sterling Ridge). I'm new to whole process and just starting to gather information. Would love to hear more about your experiences. Thanks!
  2. Thanks TXGal - good luck on Friday!:biggrin2:
  3. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and had some questions I'm hoping some of you might answer. I have Aetna PPO. I've read the clinical bulletin regarding coverage of bariatric surgery. I understand that I need to have a BMI of >= 35 and either 6 months of a physician supervised weight loss program or 3 months of multidiscplinary team weight loss program. Right now, my BMI is just over 35, but I have several co-morbid conditions (diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, high cholesterol). If I go on a weight loss program and my BMI drops below 35, will Aetna deny the procedure? I'd appreciate any assistance. Thanks so much! Jen
  4. Hi, I'm Jen. The lap-band procedure was recommended to me by my endocrinologist. I'm 42 yrs old and I've had myasthenia gravis since I was 19. I've been on prednisone none stop for the last 15 or so years and it has wrecked havoc on my system. I'm overweight (ok, I'm obese), have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, sleep apnea, and other problems that are probably related to obesity. I attended a seminar for the lap-band procedure last night. The surgeon was Dr. Richard Collier in Conroe. He seemed knowlegdable and nice enough. I probably will want to see some other seminars just to know what my options are. I found this forum on the internet and I'm hoping it can answer some of my questions and provide with me with more information.
