  1. Thanks much! I'll give them a try.
  2. Ugh, that's a bummer. I hope you get rescheduled soon!
  3. I just started my pre-op diet today and tried the chicken flavored Unjury protein powder. I didn't love it. You have to heat the water to 140 degrees before adding the mix (no hotter or it changes consistency), which was just not quite hot enough for my taste and seemed a little chalky. I think I'll stick with protein shakes, and sip broth to get some saltiness to counter the sweet. I'll definitely check out the Swanson's bone broth! My pre-op diet doesn't allow milk of any kind, but I can have low fat cottage cheese and greek yogurt. What brand of sugar free popsicles are you all buying? I can't seem to find any and I think that would be a great thing to have on hand.
  4. It sounds like we're on a similar pre-op diet and I did much the same as you. I got excited and started a "pre" pre-op a few weeks ago, then took a weekend off and struggled to get back on track. I started my pre-op for real today and the worst part is eliminating coffee/caffeine. Counting down the days...
  5. My surgery is May 12th and I just started my pre-op diet today. So far, so good. I know from past experience with medically supervised weight loss that I will be sick of protein shakes by the end of this week, so any creative suggestions from others on how to tolerate the sweet is welcome. I bought some Unjury chicken flavored protein powder and tried it today, but couldn't get through the whole serving of it. Glad to have others with May dates to share the journey with!
  6. From my understanding, that's standard protocol in Mexico. My surgery is May 12th. I fly in on the 11th, surgery the next day, two nights inpatient and one night in a nearby hotel. I fly home the following day following dietician counseling. I know of dozens of people who've had surgery with the same surgeon I have and all have had the same protocol with no trouble traveling home afterwards. Hope that helps.
  7. Unjury makes a chicken flavored protein powder that isn't completely terrible, but I prefer plain broth to counter the sweet. No fruit juice on my pre-op diet at all. I can have some low fat cottage cheese and greek yogurt though.
  8. This is great! Four of us with the same surgery dates. My surgery is also on May 12th and I started the pre-op diet today.
  9. Wow, that is a long time to do the pre-op! My surgery is May 12th, and I started the pre-op "liquid" diet today (I am allowed 4oz chicken or turkey and non-starchy vegetables 1x per day), but have been eliminating sugar and carbs and eating mostly protein and vegetables for the past couple weeks so I'd be more prepared for the liquid only. The torture for me is doing without coffee, which has been a staple in the mornings for years!
