  1. I was told to alternate one ounce every 15 minutes of Gatorade Thirst Quenchers or Protein shake. The shake is to get in protein and Gatorade is carbs and electrolytes. It is important to stay hydrated. I was also told everything has to be put in one ounce cups to measure fluid intake so I don’t get dehydrated. Bought a bunch on Amazon. Hope that helps. Good luck.
  2. Congratulations! You’ve got this!!!
  3. You may want to check out ProCare, Celebrate, Opurity, and Bariatric Advantage. Several of them offer free or low cost samples.
  4. Per my doctor I have one ounce every 15 minutes for three weeks. Today is day one of week two.
  5. I’m sorry. I would call your doctor. See if they recommend anything for gas (Gas-x or just walking). Also you may need Gatorade or to get an IV so you don’t dehydrate. Don’t wait until you feel even worse. That’s what the doctor is there for. Hang in there. I’m thinking of you.
  6. Does he want you to cook broth or a protein shake (haha)
  7. My son had Wendy’s. Ugh... they should ban fast food now that we’ve had weight loss surgery!!! The worst part is instead of giving us a plain cheeseburger with ketchup like we ordered for my picky 6 year old, they put bacon, onion, etc. so my husband went BACK through the drive through AND we threw the first one away. My husband didn’t have the heart to eat it in front of me. Two more weeks of liquid and then I’m going to have the best tasting single scrambled egg in the world!!!!
  8. I completely understand. It’s hard to be patient. I keep asking my husband why I’m not invisible yet (haha).
  9. I haven’t had hunger pains. I’m alternating Gatorade and Protein shakes, one ounce every 15 minutes. Although I’m not necessarily “hungry”, I have been craving a cheeseburger since my son had one, and also an Italian hoagie... oh well:)
  10. Gas and swelling probably need to go down. Also, they pump you up with lots of fluids via the IV.
  11. I understand. You’ve done the tough part. It’ll be even easier after surgery. Thinking of you!
  12. Liquids post-op is a million times easier than pre-op because you’re not as hungry. Hopefully Optifast is better than it was years ago when I had it. My friend loved it, but I think I’d rather have starved. You’re almost there! You got this!!!
  13. Agreed. My doctor also is very experienced and does all three surgeries as well. I considered Johns Hopkins and Walter Reed which also have excellent programs but specifically selected the doctor I used. Still, chewing would be nice (haha).
  14. I’m jealous. I had two week liquid pre-op; and three week liquid post-op before soft foods.
  15. Thanks! Thinking of you too! You’ve got this!!!!
  16. Size 18 to a size 6...that’s fantastic! Congratulations!!!
  17. You’ll do great! I had surgery Monday and doing better than expected. Just a little sore, but like JustJazzy, I also had a hernia repair.
  18. I had the Emend pre-surgery. Nothing after surgery, I hope you feel better!
  19. I was prescribed Emend for nausea. I don’t ask for any, but it was part of my surge I’d protocol..
  20. You’ve got this!!! We’ve got this! You’ll be in recovery when I’m headed in for my surgery at noon, Thinking of everyone!!!
  21. You’re almost done! I’m on my way into to the hospital now. Surgery at noon, but getting there early. We got this!!!
  22. Thank you! I’ll be the test run (haha). I’m sure everything will go fine for both of us. I thought I’d be freaking out and perhaps backing out, but I’m surprisingly calm. Ready for it to be over!
  23. Sounds like we had almost the same thought process. I’m going with bypass too (surgery tomorrow). I think we made the right choice!
  24. Looks like several of us have our procedures tomorrow, March 22. Good luck everyone. We’ve got this!!! Btw, my procedure is at noon.
  25. So glad! Thanks for posting.
