    Packing for hospital

I'm not sure you will feel up to doing a puzzle. You might feel more like I'm sleeping the day of surgery and maybe using your iPad when you're awake and feeling good. I was only there overnight so I didn't have much to pack. If you're staying two nights, the second day you may feel a little different. In between resting after the surgery, you need to try to walk as much as possible. And then they'll also have you drink liquids which is tough at first. You won't be hungry at all. Drink very very slowly, that's the key. Warm or lukewarm liquids may also be soothing. Good luck to you!

    Gas pains whew!

I'm doing pretty well. I also had a hiatal hernia and I think that's causing me more recovery issues - my biggest problem is trying to get all the liquids down that I'm supposed to. Otherwise I am walking around fine, and as long as they rest in between, I feel pretty good. I'm hoping I can get my protein and water intake up. That's a real challenge because I was never in the habit of drinking water throughout the day.

2 days out after Gastric Sleeve

I was having difficulty too. It is a lot of water to try to get down! Just take really small sips and walk as much as you can. I went a little crazy Trying to drink my water at the hospital because they were pushing me and I ended up not feeling too great. I am now fine, now that I'm home, and see that if I just take small sips I feel good. Warm or luke warm water or tea seems to be easier as well

I really hope you feel better soon. I agree with some of the others that he just really need to focus on clear liquids and make sure you can tolerate it. I'm not on phase 2 yet but I think I will be tomorrow.

Good luck, I always enjoyed lots of coffee! Right now I'm just trying to focus on drinking water. Not easy to get all my water in. Does it get easier after the 2 week? Im on day 4

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I had read mixed things about too much caffeine early on so I figured I would go decaf. It doesn't really bother me to use the decaf. Some doctors say NO caffiene but my doctor didn't have a problem with it. I'm having some trouble getting all my water in for the day. So I figured it might be dehydrating if I had some caffeine.

    Gas pains whew!

@Chantrella I am also recently postop. I had my surgery on March 4. I was having the same issues. The thing that helped most was a heating pad. Secondly the nurse told me too sip warm fluids instead of cold to reduce gas pains. It also worked. I have very small cups of warm chicken broth, warm decaf tea and decaf coffee. But I think the heating pads help the most.

@webbalyssa1990 try using some heating pads to help with the gas pains. I had my surgery on March 4 and that's what I did. It helped. I was also told by a nurse that slightly warm liquids are better than cold to help with some of those issues. So I haven't had very cold liquids and I've been sipping low sodium chicken broth, decaf coffee and decaf tea throughout the day. I do feel much better.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I had mine on March 4. It went very well. I am doing good. You just have to remember to drink very very slowly Post-op. I was a little surprised by the soreness after the surgery and my stomach was distended. I found that a heating pad helped a lot. for the first few days I was taking Tylenol at regular intervals. As of today I have no pain at all. I'm not taking any medication for pain. I am just focused on trying to make sure I get all my fluids which is hard after the operation. I just have to go slow.Good luck everyone!
