Bazinga12 got a reaction from Alex Brecher in BariatricPal StoreI just ordered a 15 count trial sample kit of Syntrax Nectar protein powder so I can try most of the flavors before commiting to a large tub. My favorite so far is the fuzzy navel flavor. The chocolate tort was good too but I couldn't get past the texture (I used water.) The shop will definitely be my go to when I need bariatric related items.

Bazinga12 reacted to JRT Mom in The Lord's SupperTrue story. I visited a friend of mine who invited me to visit her Catholic church, so I went. Catholics believe in something called Transubstantiation, which means the wine and unleavened bread are the literal blood and body of Christ. Well, when the congregation went up to receive Communion, I just sat there. My friend asked me, "Aren't you going to join us?" I leaned over and whispered, "No, I am not into cannibalism..." She was laughing so hard she sat out herself, since it would be rude to laugh in the priest's face...

Bazinga12 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Feeling so unprepared...Hi there! I'm so sorry to read that you're struggling. I've had depression most of my life and nothing frustrates me more than people saying "I understand" or "get over it." Everyone's journey is different. You can read and research and read some more, but I don't think anyone can ever be truly prepared for the incredible life-changing journey WLS truly is.
It's totally okay to feel what you're feeling right now. I'd daresay it's more common than you think. Thinking of everything you've had to give up, the post-op pain, even how this new tool will change your life... that can all be very emotional. If you had surgery locally, is there a support group you could join? Do you have a friend/colleague/doctor/etc outside of your family that you can talk with?
Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy your day.

Bazinga12 reacted to AEichman in No Insurance coverage for weight loss surgery.I am actually having mine done this Friday. Nervous but, I am happy with my decision with this clinic. I am in Las Vegas, NV now as my fiance already had a project to do out here at the same time my surgery was scheduled anyways. But I took the option with the "out of network" benefit and paid $10,500 with my care credit card. So yea out of pocket but still I don't think it's that bad.

Bazinga12 got a reaction from AEichman in No Insurance coverage for weight loss surgery.I'm working with Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas to hopefully have surgery in Sept/Oct of this year. Like you, my work insurance does not have bariatric coverage. They are able to use my out of network surgery coverage to cover some of the cost however. I still have to pay $10,500 out of pocket.
I was also considering going with Dr. Elias Ortiz (used to be with ALM) in Tiajuana. My aunt and 3 cousins have had sleeve surgery done by Dr. Ortiz and all had nothing but great things to say about him.
It's considerably cheaper than Blossom, but right now with Covid, the thought of traveling anywhere (especially internationally) is rather scary.
I've also spoken with the University of Kansas and they have a low cost option if you are in a surrounding state. I'm in Montana which excluded me from that option or I would've gone with them for sure. Good luck!
