  1. Hi, I was banded on the 11th. I was surprised to learn, afterward, that I had a paraesophogeal hiatal hernia. My surgery went great though. The hardest thing to deal with immediately after surgery was the gas. If you have the laproscopic surgery, they'll fill you with it. Be sure to walk as much as possible, and stacking up pillows helped me. I couldn't lay flat. I haven't found that food is a problem yet, since I haven't been physically hungry. At first, I was disgusted by the look and smell of food, but now I'm beginning to understand "head hunger". I try not to watch the TONS of food commercials on TV. I'm starting to see things that look good to me again.

    1 week Post Op

Hi, My friend and I were banded on Wed., 6/11. Go buddy system! We both have desk jobs, and planned to go back in 6 days, on the 17th. I made it back on the 18th. She developed a painful hematoma next to the port site, and we spent the 17th at the ER making sure she was going to be ok. She is fine and came back on the 19th. We are sore and a little weak, but it really wasn't any harder than busying ourselves at home. The first 2-3 days are the hardest, but once you adjust to what has happened to your body, it's easier. I am doing great, and other than having some gas pains, there's not been any trouble. My advice is to get good rest while you are off; walk as much as you can, to get rid of the gas; drink as much Water as you can get in, and follow the diet to the letter. I have lost 21 lbs. since starting the 1 week pre-op diet, and it feels great. My knees thank me.
