Going to St. Barnabas to have my band removed on the 25th. Then I will get my date for the gastric sleeve. I have a feeling that I'm going to need a good support group this time around.

Spent another night with no sleep ... broccoli from dinner got stuck and just aggravated the band. Had pain and acid reflux all night. The band is still tight this morning, barely able to get coffee down. I haven't had any Fluid in my band since June and this keeps happening. I can't wait until they remove it on the 25th!

I get my band out on the 25th, but they won't do the sleeve until the end of December so all the swelling can go down.

I have to wait until I get my date for the sleeve. I get my band out in two weeks and I get my date the end of December.

During mine, the doctor asked me questions about my expectations and had me explain the surgery to her. I think she wanted to make sure I understood what I was doing.

I just have to rave about the surgery coordinator at my doctor's office (Dr. Nusbaum in NJ). Denise has put up with all my phone calls and messages. She is patient, kind, and takes the time to listen even though they are short staffed in their office right now. And, today, she helped me move the surgery to remove my band up a few weeks since I'm trying to get the sleeve this year (since insurance has already approved it). She is amazing and makes this process so very much easier!!

Ugh. Just found out my fate has been pushed into January due to insurance. Darn!

I'm supposed to get a call with my date tomorrow, but the surgery coordinator feels it will be the end of December.

Looking for opinions ... Which is better for use after surgery to make your food puréed?

Just got the call from the insurance company. I'm approved! Can't believe they only took five days to approve it. Now time to call the doc!!

The surgery coordinator said they were submitting all my paperwork to insurance today!

Where in NY are you? I'm in NJ but my cousin in Rockland County is considering the sleeve.

I had the same issues. I was told it was from my sinuses dripping that I was so tight in the morning and wide open at night. Then it just would close up completely at times.

Anyone had experience with Qualcare? I'm waiting to know if they are going to approve my revision from band to sleeve. Not sure if three trips to the emergency room will count since its been over several years.

I've haven't been much of an exerciser since I gain the majority of my weight. But, my goal is to become a runner ... I need a better outlet for my stress since I don't need to be eating junk.

Thanks. I think I agree with keeping it to myself. I did let my boss know, since I will need to take off work, but she's very supportive as she had the gastric bypass 11 years ago and is doing great.

Ugh. Mentioned to a friend last night that I'm trying to get the sleeve. Boy did I get blasted. He just didn't understand. He feels that since I'm not 400 lbs (and that's his exact words) that I was going to too much of an extreme. He says I look fine. How do you respond to this? Or do you just ignore it?

I'm not sure if I'll get approved or not since I'm having my lap band removed first and am then doing the sleeve. I've scheduled my blood work and sonogram for next week. I still need to schedule the psych and the waiting game will begin.

Any recent experiences with Dr. Nusbaum? He did my lapband but it's giving me problems. I'm going through all the approval appointments now for a revision to the sleeve.

Thanks for posting this question. I'm only in the planing stage, but I hadn't even thought about this. I will add it to the list of questions I'm compiling for my doc!
