Hint_switch reacted to GradyCat in 3 months out anger and mad at the worldDoes your surgeon's office have psych counseling? Mine offers free lifetime counseling with the surgery. Maybe he/she would help you. Or your PCP could refer you to a therapist. Sounds like you need to talk. We're here to listen.

Hint_switch got a reaction from GreenTealael in 3 months out anger and mad at the worldLove that I am not alone. Just Friday I laid into him. I apologized but these new emotions make me feel insane. Sometimes I just say nothing. I started staying to myself at work to. Honesty I am proud of myself for not snapping at work.

Hint_switch reacted to ChubRub in 3 months out anger and mad at the worldI'm so sorry that you are going through this. I would make an appt with your PCP to discuss. Irritability is a common symptom of anxiety (as is poor sleep), so perhaps some low dose meds or counseling would help if that's the case?
Best of luck to you!!

Hint_switch reacted to bufbills in Having my sleeve surgery tomorrow!Good luck!!!
I'm tomorrow as well. Sleeve in Raleigh NC. Day 14 of the preop diet, and just treated myself to two cups of chicken broth. It was really good. Lol. Dropped 18 in two weeks. I'm worried about recovery. I'm hoping it's not too bad.

Hint_switch reacted to PJKS1989 in Having my sleeve surgery tomorrow!Hi everyone!
I’m having my sleeve surgery tomorrow at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles and I am so excited! I’m a bit nervous about the recovery process, so I was just wondering what tips or tricks you all may have for getting through the post op pain?
I’m going to stay positive and strong but sometimes pain is pain.
I’ve been on a pre-op mainly liquids diet for almost a month now and have dropped 25 lbs! So my weight going into surgery tomorrow is going to be 322 lbs. I’m a 6’1 31 year old male. I’m not sure what my goal weight should be, but ideally I’d love to get down to 225 lbs and in a dream world, be 200 lbs but I have a large frame so not sure if that’s doable!
Any advice for the recovery would mean a lot!
Thank you for your support,

Hint_switch got a reaction from Charlene065 in DS-Sept 2020One month and one day since surgery and what a journey it has been. I hope this helps anyone that is or will go through this surgery. I also hope to be helped.
my surgery went great, the issue was afterwards when I could not swallow liquids or medications. I was extremely nauseated. The doctor has to perform a EDG to place botox into my lower abdomen/ esophagus to relax the muscle. I had a balloon procedure years ago but that was short acting. The Botox worked almost instantly I was able to take my medication and sip liquids, while still on iv fluids. I was hospitalized for a week.
Once I returned home I was in bed for another week. Still no real protein, maybe a few sips of soup and was unable to drink water without extreme pain. It fell as if I was being punched in my stomach.
I met with my nutritionist and surgeon. Both suggested that I drink anything until I am able to tolerate water and to add an egg and eventually tuna. I was unable to brink my shakes because they were too sweet. Week three I began my vitamins. That process has been okay. Getting tired of the after taste of the ADEK and iron since they are both still chewable.
I returned to work week 3. All desk work. My energy level was nonexistent. I could use the bathroom and tire washing my hands. My sleep was all over at most getting 3-4 hours at a time. Week four has been better. I woke up today feeling rested. I have added shrimp, chicken and some ground beef. I am still not a fan of shakes or sweets. TBH I did not have sugar in my home before this.
I am down almost 35 lbs since surgery.
wish me luck and don’t forget to be patient with yourself.

Hint_switch reacted to Lynnlovesthebeach in Victory on the scale!Exactly 5 yrs ago this month I stepped on the scale at my doctors office and it read 110, but it was KG! That means I had a BMI of 48. I remember being so depressed because that was the highest number I had ever seen. I remember thinking "man that's what I should weigh in pounds!" I am excited today because when I got on the scale this morning it read 110.6...POUNDS!! It's been a long road but I can't believe I finally got there!

Hint_switch reacted to 1000islandgirl in DS-Sept 2020Good Morning,
It does sound like quite a journey already for you! I'm sorry that you have had such trouble with eating but I'm glad your Doctor is taking good care of you. I don't have any advice because I'm pre-op but I'm just wishing you a speedy recovery. I know it must be hard being at work with little or next to no energy. ~Hugs~ I hope things get much better very soon.
