  1. Thats very sweet of you to take the time to post that Mmm, you're very welcome and if I can help you in any way just send me a private message or ask here or mail me, whatever you're most comfortable with. Gillian I'm so sorry I didnt see your pm until just now, asking for the piccys, and now its too late as you have posted your last message before you go to Belgium. But I will mail them in case you check your mails tomorrow before you set off xxx
  2. To Big Sis, Gillian and Wishful.... :sneaky::thumbup::thumbup:
  3. Sorry girls I'm the pratt for assuming everyone would know what a pm is. I shouldnt have abbreviated it. Anyay I have mailed the pics and some of her blog, hope you all received same and it was of some value to you. She praises Dr Chris no end, cos she had a Hiatus Hernia removed at the same time and she was quite poorly. She says he came back to the hospital at 8pm on a Saturday night to sort her out. She had internal bleeding which the excellent nursing staff had discovered, they were that good!!! Makes me feel a lot safer knowing all of this, hope it does the same for you. Cant wait for you girls to tell us about your experiences, hope everything goes smoothly for all of you xxxxxxx
  4. Ok girls, thats fine if nobody wants pictures, just thought like me you would be curious.
  5. I have been 'chatting' to a lovely lady on another board/forum who had her gastric band fitted with CDB and she has a blog all about her lead up to the surgery, and after. I know another lady has done this, but this one has piccys of CDB his consulting rooms, the hospital, her ward and even her bathroom. So if anyone wants to see these piccys, which are not personal ( I wouldnt do that) send me a pm and I will upload, host and copy them to you. She also took piccys of the Campinille Hotel and tells of the disasterous meal (last supper) she experienced there. I dont think I will be eating there now after reading her blog. I only say this to the girls who are going to stay there to warn them, although I know another girl had a lovely meal there. Her chicken arrived burnt on the outside and raw inside, she had to send it back (She was pretty much scared of contracting food poisoning.) and 20 minutes another arrived, much the same, so she plumped for an omelette, another 20 minutes. But by this time she wasnt hungry anymore. I think that is so sad for her, and please know that I dont wish to offend or scare anyone, but personally I am glad that she wrote of her experience. Just be careful ladies.:cursing:
  6. That was a lovely post TropicalLagoon I think you are an inspiration to all of us starters. Thank you. xxx
  7. I'm sorry but i dont like Facebook, they are too damn nosey. I have my own forum, and am a global moderator on 4 other boards, so dont get much time for FB but I know loads of people that use it.
  8. I looked at the website too and was wondering that???
  9. Thank you Mmm for the info....I'll check Easyjet and Flybe out, though its prolly dearer from Manchester, but that seems the best option. See you when you're a loser if I dont see you before xxx:thumbup: Gillian and Big sis, I wouldnt worry too much, I dont think Df Chris is gonna turn you away cos you ate too much, sometimes we have to pig out. If I dont get a chance to wish you well (again) I hope for you to have a safe trip , op and for everything to go to plan, I certainly will be thinking of all of you.xxxxx
  10. Thank you hunny for the info. I am thinking of changing the date because of valentines day, the flights and hotel seem to be more expensive, you know how they milk everything for Valentines. Actually I dont even know yet cos it dosnt seem like my x-rays have arrived. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow. Then I can make definite plans. May I wish you a good surgery experience and an early recovery and that soon you will be home in familiar and comfortable surroundings. This is my wish for all of you having your op.
  11. Sorry Wishful I am so dozey, only just read your reply re Ryanair from Manchester. Thank you for that info, I think I'm going to struggle for the dates because of Valentines day ( my fella's birthday too) I will check the times of Ryanair flights, cos you have to see Dr Chris the day before dont you, so was thinking of travelling on 13th.....
  12. Thank you Gillian and BTS..for the info...I have checked Brussels airline and for us to go on 13th Feb will cost about £111/£114 each, so that may be the best option for us. Thats flying from Manchester...I would have preferred Liverpool John Lennon as its nearer for us, but nobody does Brussels from there anymore. I dont fancy the hike down to get the Eurostar much so thats not an option for us. My 93year old Mum lives with us so I am going to have to put her into Respite for a couple of weeks because I wont be able to look after her, and they'll prolly charge me for that  So many options to weigh up isnt there:angry_smile::regular_smile:
  13. Thank you Big sis and Wishful for the info. I think if I could get a flight nearer it would be better cos its only me and the hubby coming, and we'd have to do the same trip back again after I'm discharged. Distance-wise I mean. Surely there's an airport nearer than 55km????
  14. Thanx Big sis.....I didnt know Ryanair went to Belgium:confused: So have you got far to go to the hotel from the airport, and how far is that from the hospital. EDIT: Just noticed that Mmm says its a short taxi ride from the hospital I'm so glad you are all here for me to ask, sorry to be a pain though:blushing:
  15. Ohh Mmm it will be all over for you, and you'll be on your way home, many good wishes sweetie. Do you know which airport we have to fly into?
  16. Thanx Wishfull and Gillian, I'm trying to find which airline flies to Brussels from Liverpool, I think Easyjet do it, but not sure which airport I need to fly into. I tried a little googling but its harder than you think:crying: Which airport are you guys flying into and from where? Oh sorry, we're going to Benidorm this will be our 15th visit, can you tell we like it? It will be warm and sunny in the day ...at night a little cool. We went last year in January and it was the same.
  17. Does anyone know what hotel is nearest to the hospital...so i havent got to mess about waiting for taxis, or is this not possible? My daughter went to Brussels last year for liposuction and she ended up having to get a train to her hospital as the hotel told her the taxis didnt run so early in the morning. I dont want to be in that position. Thanx girls xx
  18. Thats just what my daughter said, thanx girlies. I will do that diet when I come back and try not to guzzle too much booze while I'm away. xxx
  19. lol just looked at all the typos is the above post, can you tell my nerves had gone???
  20. Ohhh...I just got a mail of dr Chris to say that when he has seen my x-rays (sent yesterday) he can givce me a surgery date of 16th Feb!!!!!!! Geez, I am going on a weeks all-inclusive holiday from 1st Feb to 7th Feb, how can i do that diet??? Dpo you think i should ask for the week after girlies??? Or grab it and hope for the best.
  21. I really dont know of any lawsuits here in the UK regarding faulty bands Wolf, but I am sure going ahead with my case if possible. When my solicitor confirms if they will take my case on as a 'no win no fee' against the manufacturer. I feel that because the band is faulty then they should pay for the surgery to remove it and then maybe when they have examined it and it is proven that its not their fault, then ask me for the money back, if it was my fault or the fault of the surgeon ( which i doubt). So I will keep you posted about this. But you know how long lawyers take to make decisions dontcha. Stay happy, you still have your life.
  22. Thanx Wishful ...well I have promised myself that I will give up after this op as I cant smoke in hospital. My hubby gave it up for 18 years and then started again, just proves to me that the urge never seems to leave you:eek: So keep it up hunny, good for you. I was also wondering if they give you tubes in your nose (oxygen) after the op, as that was my experience, after the op and that night, along with the stockings. Oxygen does give a feeling of well-being. Is it normal procedure these days?
  23. Gillian, you dont know?:glare::laugh: Arent you on it? Does this diet last for a week or 2? Geez, cutting down on the fags, no alcohol, no food, can I have s*x???:w00t::laugh: Been reading some of the 'after op' experiences......a bit scarey for me, as I dont remember having any pain, except when I had to sort of lower myself onto the loo for wee wees. After the op, I was actually back in my room, painting my nails and yakking to my daughters on the phone, then sleeping, the day and night wizzed by and it was soon time for me to fly home. I had to ask for a seat belt extension though as my tummy was tender, and the cabin crew were great, it wasnt a problem I just said I had had surgery on my tum. That was on Flybe. So I hope I have the same sort of experience this time, I dont feel nervous about the op, as I'll be out of it. I hope all you girlies who are getting banded soon, have the same experiences as me and will come back and tell us all about it.
  24. Thanx Wishful....is that the 3 yogurts and milk? Yuk!!! love it!!!!
  25. Ooops!!! Forgot to ask, does everyone have to do the pre op diet irrespective of their BMI? I didnt have to do this when I got my first band.
