Just this Sammy, it will be the best choice you have ever made. No more will you have to worry about piling on the pounds, cos even if you end up losing slowly, you will lose it, and fit into those lovely clothes. xx

I replied to MVDB and asked if the surgery could be performed in the Manchester Spire, and could he remove the band without damaging it. Here's his reply... Another dilemma!!!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
I now have a little dilemma. I wrote to Michael Van den Bossche (my surgeon) just after Christmas and asked how much would the new operation cost me, with the free band offered by the manufacturer and the discount offered by the Spire (bupa) Southampton, where I had my first op. I thought I neede to weigh up pros and cons, after all its me that has to pay. He has come back tonight with a price for me, which he says he is awaiting agreement from the Spire, but he knows they wont go any lower. The fee also includes 2 fills. He wants to know if it acceptable to me. It is less than Dr Chris's quote and of course we could drive to Southampton, so no flight costs, the £ is down again against the Euro, this is why I did trust MVDB and the hospital, I felt very safe and was well cared for , not saying i wont get the same treatment as I know I will if I go to Belgium. What do you girls think I should do.:scared2:

Gillian from my experience i could never talk whilst eating, even soup, it caused me problems, I sort of 'locked up' and couldnt swallow properly. Also if I got a wee bit agitated or stressed my band tightened up and refused to let anything (even water) in. So the trick is to sit quietly on your own and eat/drink soup...until you become familiar with how it works with your body. I did have shoulder/chest pain and was assured it was wind, and it passed (sorry for the pun:laugh:) Hope this helps hunny.

Great news about your BP hunny, it will be fine:thumbup: Fingers crossed for you. You 3 girlies have done really well, to be back on the board so soon!!!! So was it fish soup in the hospital? I think I would throw up:eek: Did you get some of that Danish crispbread, they are nice I like them, but I thought it was liquids only for a couple of weeks? I noticed on the blog I sent you girls that the lady mentioned those Danish crispbread thingys.

Oh gawd...... well I was terrified when I had my first band op, and afterwards, I was amazed at how well I felt....some pain of course, only to be expected, but nothing I couldnt handle. This time I'm not quite so scared but I know I will be in theatre for 2 hours instead of one because Dr has to remove the faulty band. I spose because the port is stitched to the muscle that is going to cause me some discomfort, which will be as well as the new band being stitched into place. Blimey I'm putting the willys up myself writing this:crying: I dreamt last night I was going for Liposuction and the nurse said no you cant have it you're too fat gee thanx for that nursey :wink5::laugh:

Wishful and Gillian, sorry I missed your posts, I always seem to do that Thank you for the stories, sounds a piece of cake, hope mine goes the same, if I ever get there!!!! I think my x-rays did go parcel post, but surely they should be there by now:crying: I've been trying to phone the Post Office all morning but they must be busy with pensions and stuff cos they're not answering. I onlt wanted to ask how long parcels take to Belgium. I'll try again later.

Ahh, yes I see, so the op was the usual hour, thats good to know chick. And good about the oxygen too, cos it does give you a feeling of well-being, otherwise we may start to get upset, well I would anyway, cos I'm soft lol. Thanx for all the info. Is Big Sis ok do you know?

Thank you Wishful for all the info...good to know that about hubbys being able to stay. Its different with every surgeon, when I was banded by Michael Van den Bossche, he didnt put a drain in :huh2: I sometimes now cannot bend easily with the port being in my left side, and thats 3 years. Also I was only in the theatre for an hour. Please tell me that you had oxygen Wishful?????

Many thanx for the birthday wishes:cool: I think it depends on the surgeon where the port is placed, mine is on my left side and my daughters (who had a different surgeon) is just under her boobs in the middle. Not sure where Dr Chris puts it, but I seem to think its on the side, I'm sure one of the already banded girlies will confirm that.

I dont think so as the Regency hospital send patients their X-rays so they dont have to store them. Unless my surgeon has something cos I know they did send him pics.

I dont think you're sposed to drink at all as well as the low fat diet, so the liver will shrink and be less of a hindrance to the surgeon.....thats what I keep reading on here hunny. I didnt have to do that last time though:blushing: I like a couple of drinks almost every night, so I must be an alcoholic, saying that though sometimes I dont bother. I think its a very done thing these days, or am I fooling myself? I did go out last night cos it was my birthday last wednesday, so I do sometimes have a life:w00t: Doesnt seem like my stupid x-rays have arrived...knowing my luck they're probably lost in the post. I will be thinking of you a week tomorrow hunny:thumbup: Oh and btw I didnt have any trouble drinking alcohol after I was banded. lol

Nothing yet Mmm, I mailed Dr Chris today to ask if the X-rays had arrived, but he hasnt replied as yet. Its over a week now, geez its only over the Water !!!! I was so stupid when I got hubby to post them though, I was in such a tizzy trying to fit them in the tube we bought, rolling them up to fit, that I completely forgot to tell him to make sure he sent them by special delivery. And guess what, he just sent them by ordinary post, now I'm worried.

Well our girlies will be in Belgium now I spose, hope they're not too nervous. Cant wait for it to be over for them, poor little loves....I'm so glad they have each other, must be a great comfort. I was just wondering if the hubbys are allowed to stay in the ward with us before surgery or after as they're 3 person rooms, anyone know. Because I spose we have to think about the other 2 patients, if there are any, in our room.
