  1. Jojo, I have done some research about port areas and found that a surgeon called...Dr. Katkhouda uses the LAP-BAND System ... This access port is placed under the skin in a muscle in the chest wall. ... Also a doc in the US places the port in the shoulder area, so really Lippy Lady hasnt done much research even though she said she has been in the business for 25years!!! Paul, sometimes my port area is very tender, I think sometimes it depends on which side you sleep. If you are overly worried why not mail freddyboy or Dr Chris. I hope it passes hun.
  2. Garry I usually watch TV in bed so go to bed about 10ish, I have stopped having a wee tipple in bed as I do get the reflux if I do. Sometimes I forget and tell myself I'll be ok, silly woman aint I, duh!!! My band has given me heartburn after eating today, feels like the food is stuck in my throat. I like savoury stuff so for brekky I had cucumber (peeled) and cheese chopped up into cubes. Lunch... I had homemade veggie soup, (liquidised) For tea I had an aero chocolate mousse, only 98 calories, but have suffered all day long, had to eat a Remegel in the end. I dont feel particularly hungry, which is fantastic, but no weight loss yet, though my hands are cold all the time, and I am the same as WTG, feeling the cold, and then having night sweats.
  3. Ole colly lips, looked dreadful didnt she lol. I told my daughter about her and she said you should have told her to ask freddyboy cos he did her defill before she had the baby....I'd forgotten. She said he would remember that her port was in between her boobs. big Sis, I've not lost since October either, but the last fill on thursday gone has got me back on track I hope.... Jo the acid reflux, doesnt happen if i dont eat anything after 9pm.....well it didnt last night anyway lol. Will keep you posted and so glad you have some restriction. Big sis, Sammy text me today, she is going to try to get on here at some point, but is so busy with her new baby. It was a little girl btw. A sister for Harrison.
  4. Yes Paul, Angie is an angel, but I think you make her laugh, so that compensates. Pretty ladies or not, you're still a bad flirt
  5. BIG SIS xxxxxx Lovely to hear from you and I am so sorry that you have suffered so badly, you poor thing. We do tend to blame our bands for a lot of things, I think most of us would have done the same. I'm just glad that the real problem has been diagnosed for you. Thank you for the nice words about Gabrielle. Take care of you and stay in touch babe xxxx Love to Gillian too. Forgot to say hunny, dont you have the Benenedin cover, so you wouldnt have to wait for your op? I know that you're a civil servant and is it available. I use mine if ever there's anything rerally wrong with me.
  6. Lovely to meet up with Jojo again and Puddlejumper. Paul your wife is a sweetheart, how she puts up with you I dont know lol. Kissing all the ladies goodbye, wot are you like!!! Flirt comes to mind. Well the ole acid reflux was back last night, had to sleep sitting upright until 5am, then could lie down. I tried the cider vinegar and God, its horrific, made it worse, so dont try peoples!!! I ended up chewing a remegel, which worked, eased it off a lot. Anyway this is what I wanted, so am gonna suffer as long as the weight drops off I can put up with it. Maybe by June I will be at target, fingers crossed. Well done all you new bandsters, dont ever think you've wasted your money I had mine done twice, cos my first one developed a leak. I love my band, its a real life-changer, even if sometimes you get a bit miserable, cos you cant eat like you used to do, but look to the future, cos its gonna be great!!
  7. Thought I'd post a piccy of my grandaughter Gabrielle, she's now 7 months, has 7 teeth, can sit up and says Da da and Ba ba...they're so cute aint they.
  8. Bless all you newly banded folk, you wont regret it. I didnt have any restriction really until my 3rd fill, so dont worry that its not working. The cider vinegar was only just over a quid in Hollands and Barretts:lol: you crank. My appointment is at 2pm on thursday, I think I only need .5 ml in to get me to my sweet spot, so here's hoping.:smile2: WTG your hubby is a star, thats what everyone needs, is he for hire? I dont know why you needed bedpans, I managed to go the loo and I'm an old lady:laugh: and dont foget it was my second band. I gave up smoking the day of the 'op and stopped until June, then stupidly started again. I didnt lose any weight at all and blamed that. I think I will be buying that book, thanx so much for the info. Hope to see you 2 on thursday:biggrin: Jasmine we all worry like that, it will be over before you know it babe xx
  9. My daughter has been doing some research and found a few articles stating that cider vinegar stops acid reflux. Her fella was suffering badly and downed a mouthful of Sarsons malt vinegar, it stopped it immediately. So next time I will be trying this, bought some cider vinegar yesterday as my fill is this thursday. I'll be the guinea pig and let you know lol.
  10. I may be mistaken but I'm sure I read on here somewhere that WLS have been approved by Dr Chris, so you would be covered if your tubing were punctured. maybe someone can confirm?
  11. Thanx so much Bo, I dont know how you have the will-power cos I have none, thats why I got the band in the first place. I think I would prefer to be too tight like I was last year at least the weight just falls off. I couldnt even eat more than 2 squares of chocolate then, cos it backed up. I just want this 2 stone off and to start leading an almost normal life again. lindsaymel get yourself some Milk Thistle tablets they are marvellous for reducing the toxins from the liver, I have always taken them, well for many years and my surgeon said my liver was very slim with no fat in it at all. I usually have a couple of drinks every night, thats what keeps the weight on me according to my husband. pffft I look forward to a drink at night, keeps me going when the food wont go down, however sometimes I cant tolerate any alcohol as it burns inside my chest, whats that all about? Acid reflux? Anyway be glad when easter has gone, I am loving the easter eggs lol.
  12. Thanx so much Shoes, Garry and Homecare...I will try to get more in. It's really annoying, cos i cant drink anything until at least an hour after eating, or vice versa for that matter does anyone else have this? I am hungry all the time too :frown:
  13. I dont know whats wrong with me, I cant eat much at all, just 4 crackerbreads for brekky, maybe a cup a soup for lunch, and teatime, I can only manage 3 desertspoonfuls of most things, but no weight is coming off!!! I have had night reflux a couple of nights, but not as bad as last year. I feel a bit pi$$ed off atm.
  14. Oh Carrie thats wonderful news hunny, congratulations xxxxx si_82 thanx so much for that info, I'll tell her, she'll be so pleased, she's got to save up first lol. Congrats top all you new bandies too. Sorry this is short and sweet again, been a bit busy, and so tired.
  15. I'm going to manchester on 8th April for another fill, I only need a bit in, last time freddyboy was a bit reluctant to put more than a 1/2ml in cos of my overfill last year, but this one didnt leave me at my sweet spot yet. because i've had so many fills Freddy offered last time to do another (if needed) for free, bless, simply because he's not too sure how much my band will take at this time, it changes so much. Does anyone know what the BMI criteria is for Dr chris to band people. My daughter who is a size 12, has to constantly be on a diet otherwise she would balloon, and she was asking me. her BMI is30.
  16. Hi Neyhad, I'm sorry hun, I dont have a clue, that was what my surgeon told me the day of the removal of the faulty band. Realistically I suppose anything that is implanted into your body will attach itself eventually. Sorry i cant be of more help, maybe someone else can advise:blink:?
  17. I'm so glad you're not feeling hungry Paul, wish I wasnt. I had 1/2 ml put in Freddyboy was a bit apprehensive about putting more in because of my overfill last year, but I think my insides must have shrunk cos I can still eat anything, albeit small portions. last night I ate a roast pork dinner, only on a tea plate and I had to keep going back to it, but I did finish it eventually, I must be a greedy pig. Jojo was lovely to meet you and your friend, I must say your piccys dont do you justice. and you dont look like you need to lose much weight either. I think I'll be going back next month unless this band changes. Freddy was so good he has trouble finding my port cos its tilted and lays on its side, and it hurts when he tries to find the flat part which he explained was because the side of the port, the hard plastic bit digs in the muscle. bless he is a love. I think he rather fancies Jojo cos he offered to escort her on her frequent trips to Cyprus.lol. Little sexpot.:frown:
  18. Ah bless, well I didnt have the drain tube, Michael doesnt use them, so maybe thats why I was not feeling so much discomfort. Sorry hunny lol. I should take more notice of this on my sig....
  19. Glad you're on your way home Paul, and glad its all over for you. Ya big wimp lol, I think the discomfort must differ from person to person, cos I had the second band implanted which was much the same as the first, another 5 incisions, but some pain in the port area due to my surgeon having to cut the old band out cos it had attatched itself to my muscles....It wasnt so much bad pain as a burning sensation, they gave me Kalpol and it worked ok, I was just so delighted to have had it done, I didnt care what I went through. I think the rest whilst in hospital is very important, I was operated on at 11am, out of the theatre by 12:30 and stayed in the hospital until lunchtime the next day. Then as I said we drove from Southampton back to Runcorn. The journey didnt trouble me at all. Maybe it was the morphene still in my system???
  20. Good luck Kerry and Susan, though you wont need it, you will be well cared for. Jojo, I'll watch out for you, usually when you go to the reception desk and tell her you're there to see frederik she tells you which room to go to, where you wait till freddyboy calls you in. Its never very long, I'm usually in and out in less than 30 minutes, depending on how many patients are there. I'm not miserable I just have one of those faces where people always say 'cheer up it might never happen' which infuriates me cos i HAVE A NORMALLY MISERABLE FACE LOL, sorry for the caps. Anyway will hang on for you if I dont see you, I'll have to drink the water anyway before he'll let me go home.
  21. Thanx Shoes for your kind words xx Slinky, like Shoes says we are all different. I was re-banded in Southampton and after a day in hospital we drove home to the North West, it took about 4 to 5 hours, and I felt good, I think maybe standing around in airports is not ideal after surgery but sitting in your own car being driven home may be easier. You could always stop and have a nap in the caravan if you need it. I think its sounds like a good idea. see what others think, but then it will depend on how long the drive will be, would you be able to lie down in the back of the car if need be?
  22. wannabe slinky thats nice of you to say. If I hadnt had a de-fill in October to go on holiday for 3 weeks, I feel I would now be at my target weight. But the holiday was fantastic so I wouldnt have missed it for the world. I went for a fill in December and Freddyboy said he couldnt put it all back in, so I have been able to eat pretty much what I wanted, so havent lost anything. I'll have to insist he puts enough in this time to get me back to where I was before October, though not quite as much cos I was over filled. The thing is I have paid all that money for fills and now I want the band to work properly again, so here's hoping he can get it all back in minus .5mls. Only a couple of days to go. Good luck to all the newbies you wont ever regret the choice you have made, it certainly will change your life. Garry and Bobo you are brilliant you have done so well!!!! Carrie, I agree we do get carried away with wanting to be slimmer, when sometimes a certain weight is just right for our bodies. You have done so well xxx
  23. bRILLIANT jOjo just look for an old fart with blondish hair about 5ft 7ins and a miserable looking face, that'll be moi lol Hope to see you then. xxx:thumbup:
