KQA got a reaction from SummerHot in Waist TrainerThanks! Yeah I've been overweight mostly my whole life but fit overweight. I ran 5 marathons above 200lbs. I've competed in numerous crossfit events I've just always had issues with portion size.
My surgery is June 17 -

KQA reacted to afterthought in Waist TrainerI agree with weight lifting. Many benefits and transforming.

KQA reacted to afterthought in Waist TrainerWe can relate, many of us worried about loose skin after surgery. Age and how long you have been obese can be factors. There is no way to predict what skin situation you have until you get to goal.
No harm in trying it out. Are you pre op or post op?

KQA reacted to New&Improved in Waist TrainerWell I think I've done pretty good with skin after losing over 150lbs and I believe once I get into the gym and start toning or lifting weights it will make a huge difference

KQA reacted to GinaFigz in Waist TrainerI think some can help But like anything you need to eat clean (as possible no one is perfect) and exercise. I find when I do even simple cardio with a waist shaper, over time my stomach tones but you have to keep it up.. Some have boning to shape, others will make you sweat plus you will be aware of your posture and might suck in your stomach which makes me aware of my stomach muscles. Mine are lax so when I wear my shaper consistently I do note a difference. I also fascia blast and use a foam roller and I feel the combination of it all helps.

KQA reacted to GinaFigz in Waist TrainerHi, so I have a long history with them. It’s also a cultural thing and I have a whole collection. It’s a problem lol.
After my surgery my doctor recommended a binder so I used one of my post pregnancy bands (Ive had 3 c sections) that was firm and it helped because I have a weak core and it also smoothed me out. It also makes me more aware of my posture. I have a few of the rubber ones with hooks, (my hubby calls them my bullet proof vests) And some are looser than others so I would start with those and as you get used to it build up to those that offer more compression. Also, if you suffer from heartburn it can make it worse. But you don’t eat as much, I find I feel full quicker so I can eat light meals and not feel as hungry if that makes sense. I think it’s all personal preference. I do love how they make me look and like I said I have all types for different outfits/weather.

KQA reacted to catwoman7 in Waist TrainerI've never read anything about them here. They'd probably be OK to wear once you're healed, I would think...
-
KQA reacted to NovaLuna in Waist TrainerI have a co-worker who had Gastric Bypass and she swears by the shaper she wears. It has hooks in the front and is a full body shaper, one of the more expensive ones. I would suggest waiting until you've healed though because you will be sore for the first two weeks weeks or so and I'm pretty sure pressure so soon after surgery would be a bad idea.

Hello there hope everyone is feeling well and getting ready to return back to normalcy after covid-19.
Here in Australia things are starting to get back to normal with opening more businesses and stuff.
It's my monthly check in for those that are interested in my journey.
I count from the day I began my diet and my new way of life which is 9 months to the day but my surgery was 7 months ago.
Everyday I wake up and I'm amazed how far I've come this year. I look in the mirror and I still can't believe how good I look now after losing all the weight.
I spent half my life obese most of all my adulthood actually and I was always known as the fat friend or the one to be in the friendzone ONLY!!
I'm finally starting to gain some confidence in myself which I've struggled with on top of rejection from the opposite sex and I'm starting to engage in some counselling to help deal with the anxiety that comes with social interactions with women.
Um I'm regards to my weight looking back in my diary I've been in maintenance pretty much the same weight range now for 2 months.
My highest weight this year before surgery got up to 322LB and I've been in maintenance sitting between 165-168 pretty consistently these past 2 months.
I don't log my food as much but still keep a mental note of the calories and still have a habit of checking my weight most days just to keep focused and to remind myself to not get complacent!!
I will admit I've had some treats since in maintenance and it has not affected my weight which is great so I feel the bypass I was given has definitely changed the way my bodys metabolism works.
It feels great to be called skinny and people using that adjective when talking about me ?
I'm no longer the fat friend I'm now the skinny ONE.
I just want people to know it is possible to reach all your goals and to be successful.
At my lowest weight of 165 I've lost 157lbs from my highest weight in just 7 months which is amazing.
I know I'll need to tone up and build some muscle eventually and that will add some weight which is fine.
Thank you all for your kind words throughout this journey.
Mikey.
