  1. Welcome back Janet, prayers are with you....
  2. I am so struggling with everything. I really need to get back to the basics and get myself going again, but just can't seem to do it. I know it will only help me in the end, but have no clue what the heck is wrong with my brain lately.... I am definitely a coward and am afraid to call my doctor for a fill. I totally need one because it's like I don't even have this band around my stomach any more. I am just eating way too much and way too fast of all the wrong foods... I am hungry again an hour after I eat a meal..... Can't stand it any more and am about to just give up totally. Gail
  3. I had a such a run in with my doctor refusing to do my second fill that I haven't even gone back yet. That negative response from him threw me for a loop and I gained. I have been through a lot lately that has kept me from going back, but I am going to call him in a few weeks and see what he tells me and if he's negative again and refuses me a fill, then I already have the name of another doctor to contact and hopefully I can get him to take me as a patient.
  4. Please let Janet know that my heart goes out to her and her family. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Gail
  5. Hi everyone, just checking in for a few seconds. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I am doing okay, just tired, can't sleep very well at night and haven't been able to for a while now. I am going to take this week and slowly get back into the swing of things with my weight loss journey and then jump back in with both feet. I really need to get up the nerve to contact my surgeon for a fill. It feels like the band isn't even there any longer and I can eat anything I want just like I did before surgery so something needs to be done. If he won't help me, I did find a doctor that is covered by my insurance that isn't that far for me to travel so i'll give them a call and see if they will help. Hope everyone has a great week and hopefully i will be able to check in more often. Gail
  6. well, when it rains it pours. I lost my mom this morning. It was expected, but still a blow to the heart. She is not suffering any longer and is with her parents now. I am glad that I got to see her last night and know that she understood that I loved her and my son got to give grandma a kiss good bye which brought a smile to her face for a few seconds last night. I won't be online for the next few days need to take care of a few things and get through the services. See everyone next week. Gail
  7. Thanks everyone, I am doing okay Janet, just a little tired because I have been doing a little too much. I was suppose to have bed rest for 2-3 days, but just laying in bed wasn't helping because it just lets your mind focus on the loss. I am definitely not looking forward to what my surgeon is going to say. I'm sure he's going to say it was due to the lap band some how, but I have a history of miscarriages over the past 18 years of my marriage. I am blessed that I have my 27 month old son, so I am giving him all my attention right now and that helps. I am also going to look into changing surgeons and see if that helps me some. I am going to start back on my weight loss journey slowly starting next week. I definitely will be around much more on here. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Gail
  8. Hi everyone, hope this finds you all doing well. I haven't been online much due to we found out we were expecting our second child. Well, we lost the baby the other night, and I will start to get back on my weight loss journey next week. Just taking a few days to rest and get better. I was wondering why I wasn't losing weight a few months ago.... Gotta run for now, but hope to be able to check in every day again. Gail
  9. congrats on the weight loss...
  10. thanks, i'll have to browse that thread when i get some spare moments.
  11. I have united healthcare myself, but i have a very high bmi and diabetes. Good luck and keep us posted.
  12. I knew your comment wasn't directed to anyone specific. I just really need a fill and am hoping to get one soon.. Thanks for being here for the support and information.
  13. Hi all, I did it, I actually lost 2.2# last week. It was rough, I am still trying to learn how to eat healthy, but I have really been doing this on my own because my doc won't do a fill until I am back under 370#. I know Janet you just said that people get too dependent on fills, but I am so long over due. I also started walking with my son in the stroller at night. Almost a whole mile every night except yesterday, I was visiting my mom most of the afternoon and then had errands to run. Only 3# more to go and then I can call my doctor and make an appointment.... The show of a loss on the scale this morning was a mood booster though.... Can't wait to see another one next week. Thanks everyone for your posts and suggestions, they help alot. Gail
  14. Janet, hope andrew will have a speedy recovery and no permanent damage
  15. thanks everyone for the tips on the veggis. going to have to give that zucchini, peppers, and onion stir fry, sounds yummy... I actually walked down the street and around the block tonight... Thanks, gail
  16. Janet, Thank you for your words of tough love. It really made me sit down and think about things. I think that most of my problem with the eating healthy is I don't know how. My mom was ill due to her weight problems all my life. Growing up it was my sister who prepared the meals and if she didn't make something, gramma just ordered fast food. I don't really like any types of fruits and vegis besides corn, beets, and bananas. Go figure, the ones with all the carbs in it. I can handle baby carrots, but have to have some sort of dip on them and not sure if there are any LF or FF ones out there. I did though, start tracking my food on "The Daily Plate" every day. Hasn't been great, but at least i'm tracking it. I am trying to get things in order and figure out how to incorporate new vegis and fruits into my daily menu, but just not sure how to do that and which ones I would even like. I need to start to plan out my weeks and go from there. I haven't started exercising formally yet, but that will come too. I just wanted to thank you for your words and look forward to all the help and inspiration I can get from you and the other women on this forum. I have to stop weighing myself every day too and chose a day to weigh in on weekly. I really need to get these extra 5# off so I can call the doctor back up for a fill. He wouldn't do one back in June because I gained 3# and some of that was my fault, but some was Water retention due to TOM. That sent me in a downward spiral and I actually gained back 10#. I desperately need a fill and he won't do one until I get these extra pounds off. I also need to increase my water intake again. Sorry this is so long, but this seems to be the only place I can vent. Thanks for listening, Gail
  17. Welcome aboard Heather, how are you feeling?
  18. Sil, Good luck with your journey and hopefully you will get a date for sometime in September. Gail
  19. Tina, I too am starting new this week with watching what I eat and am going to incorporate some walking into my daily habits too. It will be slow at first, but need to get my butt going. I do agree, the bad foods do seem to slide down easier. My doctor won't do a fill on me until I lose the 3# that I gained when I went in for my follow up. He was adament on doing the bypass surgery on me to begin with, but I disagreed, didn't want to have that surgery, too evasive for me. So, of course, that sent me into emotional eating and I gained even more, so now I have 5# to get back off and then hopefully he will do a fill. I really need one. Here's to a new week.... Gail
  20. Barb, yes, I have dr. benbraheim at midstate
  21. He is the only one in my area that does the bariatric surgeries and is covered on my insurance plan. I think it all stems down to he was adament on me getting the bypass and when I told him that that was too evasive for me, he really wasn't interested that much.
  22. Right there with you to the point that I feel like throwing in the towel because I don't know what to do. Gail
  23. Janet, I was banded in April 2008 and am about ready to throw in the towel. I am hungry all the time and have no motivation to exercise. I need to lose 5# before my doctor will do a fill and am struggling beyond my control. I hate the way I feel and seem to be in a rut. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I have been reading this thread for a little while now and you are an inspiration. Sorry to sound so negative, just frustrated to no means and don't know what to do. Gail
  24. How many fills have you had so far? I've only had one because my doctor won't give me another one till I get back down to under 370# because he thinks i was cheating when I went in for my last visit and I tried to explain that the 3# were from TOM, but he didn't care. I feel like i've been abandoned by my doctors office and he is the only one locally that does this and is covered by my insurance. It's been a struggle for me because I have no restriction at all and no foods bother me. I am hungry most of the time. What type of food plan do you follow? It was nice to finally hear from someone else that is kinda in the same boat. Gail
  25. Dancelady, I'm right there with you. I am struggling with the same 5#, up and down. I was banded on 4/22/08 and have only lost about 15# since surgery. I too, can't seem to get exercise and/or diet going right at all. I've only had one fill and when I went back for my second one, the doc said that becuase I was up 3# since my last visit with him, that I must be cheating too much and won't do one until I get back down below where I was at my last visit with him. I am hungry most of the time and have no problems eating any types of food. I keep trying, but those stubborn 5# won't leave long enough for me to call for a fill appt. Gail
