  1. I had RNY-gastric bypass on 03-16-20. I am diabetic and have been for many years. Pre-op, we were having issues maintaining my blood sugar over 70 and I received dextrose via IV twice before my surgery started. The evening after my surgery, I was still having hypoglycemia issues requiring IV intervention as I was still not able to take anything by mouth. A couple days after my surgery, I began to have issues with high blood sugar that has required me to take insulin. Up to this point my blood sugar has been managed with pills. I have never been on insulin before. I have been following my diet but continue to have super high blood sugars. Sometimes into the 300-400 range. I have never had this issue before. I went through 2 insulin pens within the month post surgery. That is 600 units of insulin. My blood sugar starts to trend up even before I eat anything. It even goes up if I eat something with no carbs in it. Has anyone else had this issue?
