NeverAgain297 got a reaction from SoulGardener in Pain at the opening of stomachI just wanted to give an update on my issue. I ended up going to the ER on the 27th of November because the pain while eating was not getting better. Infact, it seemed to be getting worse. On top of that it seemed that even just a couple bites of food or drink and I was vomiting. It turns out I have an ulcer. They've put me on some medication but I understand they can be pretty tricky to heal and that they can be easily re-agitated. I'm really only able to eat yogurt, creamy soup and baby food at this point. Even that hurts after a couple bites and makes me nauseous. I'm taking anti nausea medication, but it doesn't seem to help much. I'm trying to look on the bright side and tell myself I'm going to lose even more weight, faster but I miss eating.

NeverAgain297 got a reaction from SoulGardener in Pain at the opening of stomachPersonally, it happens even when I'm drinking, but worse when I'm eating something. Almost always on the third bite. It's like I've swallowed a key sideways and it's dragging down into my stomach. I've stopped eating solid foods and gone back to liquids and puree. Hoping that will help.

NeverAgain297 reacted to Sammi_Katt in Had gastric bypass on Oct 28. Got ulcers. I'm not even eating but I have gained 2 pounds. Haven't lost a pound in 2 weeks. REALLY FRUSTRATED. ?When I had my surgery, I lost weight for the first week, then I got sick. I didn't eat anything except for applesauce and a cracker or two for almost four weeks, and was vomiting uncontrollably (my gallbladder was dying, but the doctors took forever to figure it out). In that time, I didn't lose a single pound, but as soon as my gallbladder was out and I was eating like I was supposed to, I did. When you don't eat, your body is starving and hanging on to everything it can so it won't die.
I understand that it's frustrating, but you have to try to eat something. If you have ulcers, your doctor needs to help by getting you a ppi or something to help your stomach out. But you *have* to eat to lose weight. I hope you feel better soon. Just hang in there.

REALLY FRUSTRATED. ?stalls are common - I had several on my journey. To deal with them, you just have to stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days if you have to. As long as you stick to your program, stalls will eventually break. They usually last 1-3 weeks.
check with your surgeon about the ulcers. They may have to increase your PPI dosage (or if you're not on PPI's, they'll probably put you on them - many of us are on them for 3-6 months after surgery)

REALLY FRUSTRATED. ?You're not eating enough. Trust me, it's true. Plus you've probably encountered a stall, which might take a couple of weeks to get over and you'll always have fluctuating water levels, so don't sweat the 2 lbs and keep following the program. Eat some more!

REALLY FRUSTRATED. ?Not eating anything actually can slow down your progress. I would also find a way to get in water, broth, sugar free jello, crystal lite, the cirkul bottle, there are so many options out there, if you are not getting in the water or your protein you are not helping your body lose the weight.
Can you sit down with your dietitian and go over some other diet options? I am sure its extremely frustrating and painful but maybe they can help you come up with some options for you that sound appealing ???

Your HR lady is right. Be nice and move on. -
NeverAgain297 reacted to SAS11 in Not losing weight on puréesI moved up from liquids to purées on Friday. On liquids, I lost 11 lbs. But ever since I started purées I’ve gone up 1 lb. and it hasn’t gone back down. On Friday, all I ate all day was a quarter of an avocado and a quarter cup of oatmeal with protein powder mixed in. Yesterday, all I ate was 2 tbsp. hummus, 1 Greek yogurt cup, and 2 tbsp. PB2. Today it’s been pretty much the same: a quarter cup of oatmeal, 2 tbsp. hummus, and 2 tbsp. PB2. How is it that I’ve stopped losing weight on this little food? I just don’t see how it’s possible. I can understand that on the first day maybe my body just decided to hang tightly onto every calorie because it’s been starving, but I haven’t had more than 300-400 calories a day since I started purées and it doesn’t make sense to me how I’m not losing weight. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m becoming more than a little afraid to eat. -
NeverAgain297 reacted to Arabesque in Not losing weight on puréesYou’re likely in a stall. They’re very, very common. The first one usually occurs around week 3 but it can begin before or after that. I thought of them as my body needing a breath to catch up with all the changes - the surgery, the reduced & changed diet, the weight loss, etc.
They can last one week or a couple of weeks & you’ll have a couple of them on your journey. You will start to lose weight again. Just relax & stick to your plan.
Good luck & congrats on your surgery.

NeverAgain297 reacted to The Greater Fool in Five Weeks Out...lost 30lbs post opOK, I had almost 1/4 ton to my goal weight and I lost 41 points the first month.
Of course, my Doc didn't care much about my weight, he was more interested in my health and happiness. Not once did he comment on how much or little weight I lost unless I did.
Doc was focused on me staying on plan. The rest will happen on it's own.
Get rid of your scale, that way you can't compare.

NeverAgain297 reacted to catwoman7 in Five Weeks Out...lost 30lbs post opunless you're the size of someone on "My 600 lb Life", the chances of you losing 15 lbs a week is pretty minute. Most "normal" WLS patients lose somewhere in the 15-25 lb range the first month - and it slows down after that. Of course, you'll always find outliers who lose more or less than that, but that seems to be about the norm for month #1. So you're perfectly normal - well actually, a bit ahead of the game.
P.S. I don't know where you're looking on this forum where you're seeing people losing 15 lbs a week. I've never seen that, and I've been hanging out here for five years.
