  1. I have a message in to my Doctor. I thought I would ask here for experiences while I wait for a response. Yes I am diagnosed with GERD and severe esophagitis.
  2. I am pretty sure I want the sleeve, but my friend has got me thinking about gastric bypass because I have GERD and it can get worse with the sleeve (or so I am told). Can you all share your experience whether it be the sleeve or bypass? I would like to know the good, bad and ugly about both procedures, so I can try and make an informed decision. Thank you.
  3. I am at the very beginning of the process and still need to meet with the dietician for 4 months. I am hopeful that they will be scheduling surgeries again once I have met the requirements for my insurance.
  4. I just had my psych evaluation yesterday evening and my doctor said it will take about a week for him to get an answer to my surgeon. Is this typical? For some reason I thought I would have an answer at the end of the evaluation, but I guess he has to go over my test and do some other things? Anyway, just wondering what the average was for an answer. My appointment was around 2.5-3 hours. I had to take a 567 question personality test and also fill out another bariatric form. I met with the doctor for about 30-40 minutes after I completed all the necessary paperwork. I am kind of bummed because I was hoping for an answer last night and now I have to wait a week. It's gonna be a long week.
  5. Anyone from San Diego have Dr. George Mueller as their surgeon? I have a consult with him next week and am just wondering what your experience was with him? Thanks!
  6. I am at the very beginning of my journey and have a couple of questions regarding the pre-op stage. Will I need to go on a diet plan prior to my surgery? I am trying to go through my insurance and am unsure of their requirements. Also if I do need to go on a plan, will my surgeon or dietician put me on one or is this something I will have to do on my own? Thanks!
  7. Thank you! I am hoping my doctor will not be too concerned with it either.
  8. Hi! I am just beginning my weight loss journey, but have been doing research and have decided that I would like to do the gastric sleeve surgery. However, I have a friend who told me I may not be a candidate for it because I have GERD and severe esophagitis. I believe my GERD is caused by the medium sized hiatal hernia I have and was hoping the surgeon may fix that during my WLS procedure. Is that something the surgeon may do? Anyone have a surgeon approve the gastric sleeve surgery, even though you have GERD? I am hoping to avoid gastric by-pass because of the absorption issues that can occur. Thanks!
  9. I have my surgery consult next week ( as long as they don't cancel) and I am wondering what to expect? Anything I should be sure to ask the surgeon? I am hoping for the sleeve procedure. Thanks
