    My @ss hurts 😢

Who knew that the base of the sternum could be so bony of that hips are hard 🤷‍♂️
  2. I’m 3 1/2 months post RNY gastric bypass and for the last month I’ve been suffering from intense pain in my butt. It’s like the bones themselves ache and every time I sit down I’m in agony. Oddly enough, it appears I have lost weight disproportionately from my backside, leaving me with very little padding left (and I’m still a big guy at 300 lbs after losing 110 lbs). My wife ordered me a special pillow for people suffering from coccyx injuries and I can’t wait for it to arrive. I’ve since read that this can happen, but this was definitely not mentioned in my ‘things to expect post-surgery’ talks with my surgeon. Then again, he didn’t mention the joint pain, haemorrhoids, bleeding gums, etc. Anyone have any suggestions for relieving the pain and discomfort?

    My @ss hurts 😢

The thought of sitting on a bicycle seat, even a recumbent exercise bike, is almost too much to bear. Great to hear that there has been improvement over time though.

    My @ss hurts 😢

Fortunately the bleeding gums started and stopped within two weeks from 4-6 weeks post-surgery. The multivitamins were making me sick every day and it was likely a combination of vitamin deficiency and all the acid from vomiting.

    Fruits

I’m in Queensland too! I’ve only had success with seedless watermelon and applesauce. I desperately want to try berries but the seeds from blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are too scary for me to contemplate. Sometimes I’ll chew up a piece of apple, suck out all the juices and spit out the fiber/peel. The acidity from citrus fruits won’t allow me to eat them.

    CBD Honey

I’m 3 1/2 months post surgery and consume sugar in my tea a couple times a day and eat a few FlaVorIce ice pops (with sugar) each day (it’s hot and humid in Brisbane). I’ve never experienced dumping. I remain extremely limited in what I can eat, but sugar hasn’t been an issue, so I doubt honey would be an issue for me.

    Hospital Bag

Loose, elastic waist, shorts to wear with the hospital gown. They have you up and walking around the hospital the next day and it is really nice not to expose yourself to everyone. Other things I used: phone/charger (with headphones), toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant and a mini fan.
  8. I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. My mom talked me out of surgery a year ago, said I was giving up. I think she was just jealous that I was ‘actually’ going to lose the weight after 20 years of dieting. She has been dieting for 40 years and is still convinced she is going to lose the weight the old fashioned way. So I went forward with the procedure anyway. I have her support, but she definitely gets some small pleasure every time I vomit or experience a complication. Sort of a cosmic, “I told you so - you should have listened to your mother”.

    Questions about eating

I’m 3 1/2 months post surgery and mostly stick to skim milk, tea with milk, low-fat cottage cheese, mashed potatoes and homemade (puréed) chicken soup made with Chicken stock, canned chicken, frozen carrots and frozen mashed potatoes. Wish I had known that chicken breast was a no no. Two small - well chewed - bites at 6 weeks out landed me in the Emergency room after 16 hours of vomiting. My surgeon acted like I was an idiot for not knowing to eat dark meat. 3 weeks of vacation in the US was hard. Tried small bites of lots of things and vomited a lot (even when I spit things out without swallowing). So glad that I haven’t vomited once in the last week since being home to Australia. - Beast (Brisbane)
