  1. Hello! I had gastric bypass on 7/6 and just started my purée phase on 7/22. Things seem to be going pretty well however when I’m eating purée chicken or tuna I get pressure in my chest and upper back and find myself burping a lot. Could this mean I’m eating too fast or taking big bites or is this something like acid reflux?
  2. @newyorklady20 that’s so frustrating. I just wish insurance would give me a straight answer. That’s my concern now though. I work out and such and now I feel like I need to eat more to balance the weight. I feel like the insurance companies should have one standard of basing it off starting weight and BMI and then consider the weight loss in the program as dedication

  4. Thanks everyone! I was able to move my next weigh in up to Wednesday to speak more with my provider through the program
  5. @karlee0206 I actually called them and they weren’t really helpful (shocking). They just said that it’s a case by case basis and that they look at all of the medical history. It’s so frustrating. I’m so happy that I’m losing weight and my labs are stable but then I feel like it puts everything I’ve been working for in jeopardy
  6. Thanks for the responses! I think my md office wants to just be safe. I have my next weight in in a little over 2 weeks so I’ll see what they say then.
  7. Never had this issue So I’m currently in the process of going through the steps for gastric surgery (my insurance requires at least 6 months of supervised weight loss). In the beginning my a1c was 7 putting me at type 2 diabetes (long family history, I’m only 26, hence one of the reasons I want to get the surgery). I have since lost about 10lbs and had my a1c checked today. In the matter of 3 months my a1c has dropped from 7 to 5.5 which is a normal range. My program is worried that if I drop below the BMI of 40 my insurance will deny me as we weren’t worried before with the Type 2 diabetes diagnosis but because now I’m in normal range they may say that my a1c is normal and the reason for taking metformin is due to PCOS. Here’s my dilemma. I’ve never had to maintain a weight so I’m honestly not sure how to especially to make sure I don’t drop below a certain BMI number. Does anyone have any tips or have dealt with this before?
