I'm in phase 3 right now. The best advice I can give you about phases 1 & 2 are to maintain mindful eating. Listen to your body. In the hospital they want you to drink 1 fl oz every 15 mins. Then then you come home...it'll probably be the same for a bit. If you feel like you can move up to two, do it...but you WILL ABSOLUTELY know when you can't have any more. You will feel full at the top of your stomach. Go too far you'll really feel pressure at your chest...never went past that and only got to the chest pressure 1 time

    Welcome.
I'm confused. Why would you not trust what your surgeon is saying. He knows your plumbing better than anyone else, certainly better than us.
The sleeve doesn't really change much about your plumbing. All the things that could have caused GERD pre-op is there for the sleeve post-op.
Since your Doc said *IF* either you have not done imaging yet or you have not spoken to him about the imaging yet. That is what will tell him what is going on. Until then guessing and vexing, while fun, is not useful. The kind and generous folks here can share their experiences and give you encouragement, but your Doc has the answers.
No one can make you get RNY. As your doc indicated, if it's a hernia it can be fixed. If it's GERD you can deny surgery and hope and try possible medications. Or you can simply choose to suffer with it. Chances are it will not kill you soon, but your Doc will be able to give you the scoop. The choice is ALWAYS yours.
    Good luck,
    Tek

before surgery that is! I had to take a pause and wait for covid and changing insurance to go through.. anyway, Oct 13 I will meet the surgeon, go to surgery scheduling, and go over benefits! Sounds like my surgery won't be until November, but it will be SOON!! I'm sooo excited!

Girl you’re going to hurt yourself. You need to focus on sticking to your surgeon’s plan for slowly moving through liquids, purées, etc. A whole breadstick one week post op is crazy.
Did your doctor clear the elliptical? You have a ton of internal work that you may not feel but it’s there and your body is healing. Don’t go too hard right now, walking is great.
Why are you pushing your boundaries? You literally have done nearly all the things they told you not to do within your first week!
ETA - you said you didn’t have nausea or vomiting as if you were expecting it. Not everyone does have it, you can’t bank on that deterring you from overeating.
