KL21 reacted to Uterno in Regain RealizationWow, @cocobeau13!!! Your post knocked the wind out of me. I came to this site for the first time in months. My experience post-op has been disappointing, starting 1 month out when my slow progress got even slower. I eventually lost motivation and stalled for over a year. In the last 4 months I have actually gained 14 pounds, very easily.
I was feeling depressed and defeated. So I signed in here, and was just about to search "regain" to look for inspiration when I glanced down the list of posts and saw yours. We have the same surgery date (5/29/18), which is what took my breath away!
I'm going to take our surgery twinning and your recommitment as a sign that I can do this, too. Good luck to you, and thank you!

KL21 reacted to cocobeau13 in Regain RealizationHello everyone!
So just to give details, I had surgery 5/29/18 and lost 95lbs originally post surgery. However since, I gained back 35lbs and have been depressed about it. I’ve lost the 35lbs then gained it back (and the cycle repeats). I’ve tried Keto, Vegetarian, Whole30, the works! And it seemed as if my stomach stretched out and I was back to eating almost all the way normal.
This time around though, I figured I would go back to what I learned pre-op and make the lifestyle changes I made 2 years ago to lose the weight.
I restarted about two weeks ago, eating my food slowly, listening to when I was actually hungry, taking my supplements, drinking my water, eating protein first, getting active each day and eating 3 meals without snacks.
Two weeks later, I’m already down 6 pounds and now it seems like I’m eating the portions I was eating 2-3 months post-op! Even the dumping sensations I felt when I eat too much came back (something I TRULY didn’t miss lol)
I realized that I was seriously overeating and not utilizing the tool I’ve been given.
All of this to say, if you are someone like me, going through regain loss and have been a ways out from surgery, don’t overcomplicate it. Go back to basics and use your tool.
It hasn’t stopped working. It hasn’t stretched out. It’s just not being utilized. And you can pick it back up again.
We got this! Don’t give up.

KL21 got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in Slow losers clubI had a lap band removed one year ago this month, then had GSL on 9/4/19 with pre-op weight 268, DOS weight 263. I’m a slow loser as well. I am only down to 227. I exercise 5 days a week for 30-45 minutes with a trainer. I probably consume 1200 calories/day. No weight loss in 2 months. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Suggestions? -
KL21 reacted to sideeye in Recreational DrugsYou're not asking a stupid question. And it's not TMI. Goddamnit, people depress me sometimes.
First: when did you have surgery? Have you done coke before, and is this typical? Had you had alcohol since your surgery?
Just based on the timing, I'd guess that you've got a stomach bug and that this isn't related to the drug use. Anyone vomiting for three days would feel ache in their stomach. Did you have a flu shot this year? Are you drinking a ton of Gatorade or Pedialyte to make up for the dehydration? If not, your symptoms are just going to feel worse.
Even if this reaction has nothing to do with the coke or booze, you know that introducing a rogue element into a healing system isn't a good idea, obviously, and you'll be more careful in future. Good.
Few things make me bristle with rage. Idiotic responses like this would be one of them. Her question was related to WLS, since she's concerned there's been an interaction between the drugs and the surgery. She's asking for help because she's worried. I am incredibly angry that your response was the first here, as it is worthless.

KL21 reacted to Hop_Scotch in READY TO THROW IN THE TOWELWell there is a dexa scan which measures body fat, however, that wasn't my point. I was suggesting that you perhaps you need to take your mind of weight loss for a little while and focus on non scale measures of success. Focus on some positives for a while.

KL21 reacted to Cheeseburgh in READY TO THROW IN THE TOWELNo, I’m sorry it doesn’t. Crying out for help involves wanting help, I don’t think you want help. You’ve declared many, many times in many many ways on this forum how unhappy you are, how much you regret having surgery and how somehow after a whole 2 months you’ve decided that it didn’t work.
We get it, you hate it, you seem to enjoy complaining rather than listening to people who take the time, effort and their personal experiences to try and help you. You self declared/diagnosed that this surgery didn’t work for you. You believe that 2 months and 14 pounds later.
*The surgery is working, you’re just uncomfortable.
Someone mentioned therapy earlier to you and your response was something like: “That would be like spitting in the wind” (not verbatim)
Why are you spitting in the wind here?
There are a lot of people that had their surgeries canceled due to Covid, are heartbroken and would trade places with you in a heartbeat.
You gave up from the start. You don’t need permission or an excuse to fail at this, and you certainly won’t get it here.

KL21 reacted to JessLess in READY TO THROW IN THE TOWELCan you usually lose 15 lbs. in a month and a half? I feel sorry for you that you're so upset, but I don't really understand it. If it was the worst decision you've made in your life, why are you unwilling to talk to a therapist about it? I'm sure you could get a teleahealth appointment with one after the weekend.
