I was banded in May 2008 by Dr. Vincent Lusco in Louisville, KY.  I had a pretty uneventful surgery and recovery, and started with fill adjustments about 6 weeks after surgery.  I saw my surgeon about every 6 weeks at first, then every 3 months, then as needed for fills.  I didn't really notice the weight start to drop off until a few months after surgery, then I lost about 1-2 lbs a week.  Until then, my weight seemed to plateau - I hadn't quite found my sweet spot yet.
Update - in July 2011, I had a band slip and had a new band put in.  My surgeon said that this can be caused by a small hiatal hernia that I had.  Back when I had my surgery, they didn't used to fix those as they do now.  They removed the old band, and put in the new larger band.  So far, the recovery is progressing normally again with no problems.
