MommaBearOf5 reacted to catwoman7 in Super Frustrated!people lose at all different rates due to all different factors - gender, age, starting BMI, metabolic rate, genetics, whether or not you lost a lot of weight pre-surgery, etc. Your weight of rate loss has very little (or maybe no) bearing on your ultimate success - your success is due to your level of commitment to your program. If you work hard and are committed, the weight WILL come off.
I lost 16 lbs my first month. And I have lost 100% of my excess weight, over 200 lbs. Try not to compare yourself to others. You can't control most of the factors that influence your rate of weight loss. You CAN control how hard you work at it. So focus on that.

MommaBearOf5 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Super Frustrated!I had my sleeve on 7/11. I saw my doctor a week ago for my two week post up. At that point I had only lost 12 pound and also caught a head cold. She said my body was fighting what it’s supposed to do and being I was sick she kept me on clear liquids for another week and a half. Two weeks post op I had lost 12lbs. I don’t start full liquids until this Friday. I’m feeling much better now as far as the cold goes and I’m sticking to my clear liquid diet - basically my diet consists of 2 premier protein shakes and then about 50oz of water, 32oz of Gatorade zero, and a sugar free ice pop and 1/2 cup sugar free jello. A week later and I’ve only lost 4lbs for a total of 16lbs since surgery just about three weeks ago. I feel like only eating 350-400 calories a day I should be losing more. My doctor said just watch the weight will start falling off- but when? I know everyone loses at different rates but being on the clear liquid diet for almost a month I’m getting really frustrated. Anyone else experience anything similar? Or does anyone have any tips for me? Thanks for any input!

MommaBearOf5 got a reaction from GreenTealael in 2 weeks post op- and I have a head cold- HELP!Thanks I am using the premade ones, but they’re causing so much throat phlegm (sorry tmi)...I was only able to get one in today with 30g - hopefully tomorrow is better and if the nausea doesn’t stop tomorrow I’ll ask for the patch. Thank you -
MommaBearOf5 got a reaction from GreenTealael in 2 weeks post op- and I have a head cold- HELP!Hello all
I’m two weeks sleeve post op today. Two days ago I started with a head cold. That day I had my surgical follow up and also saw my PCP for the head cold. Surgeon wants me in clear liquids for another 8 days and try to increase my protein from 60mg a day to 90mg a day. She said cause my body is fighting this illness and I’ve only lost 11lbs since surgery. My primary care doctor said I have a viral infection and it will pass.
Here’s my dilemma. Everything is now making me nauseous. Today has been the worst day. I’ve only gotten one protein shake in so far cause the consistency bothers my sore throat. Broth makes me want to gag. Gatorade 0 is making me nauseous as well. Water is doing okay, but not anywhere near the amount I need to be getting in.
Anyone else go through something similar? Any tips or tricks?
I’ve also tried protein waters and they make me gag as well.
I feel like my body is fighting me horribly, and if I just gave it something more than clear liquids I’d feel so much better. -
MommaBearOf5 got a reaction from shannamarie in 7 days on PO Clear Liquid Feel Like Crap- HELPI had surgery on 7/11. It went very well. I’m feeling great today. Kinda over this liquid diet - lol. Protein has been a little tough to get in- but instead of drinking it back to back I have opted to drink 2oz every hour on the hour and it seems to be working better for me today. And other than that I just keep sipping something - broth, jello, Gatorade 0, and water. ? -
Regular broth may have TOO MUCH sodium. Don't indulge in the sodium.
Again, I first say, check your blood pressure, and if it's a lot lower than your normal, just a tongue-tip taste of salt granules might get you over the hump. But drinking regular broth with regular amounts of sodium will increase your weight.

Can you check your blood pressure? It might be low. You might need a little bit of sodium (not much!!). Maybe sprinkle a little bit into your palm, or mix with water. But again, not much. Try 1/4 tsp.
I'm proud of you that you've hung in there for 7 days with liquids!!! How much weight have you lost in the 7 days?
I'm trying to get back onto a liquid restart now almost 6 years out.
Feel better and good luck this week!! Look forward to happier, thinner living.
