Exactly my point JessLess. The only product he recommended is BariatricPal. I’d like to see a variety of recommended options so I’m not getting biased information. To run a product where the community of information is so key, this seems like an awful practice. Just a thought... -
shublu reacted to Frustr8 in Suggestions for chewable Vitamins?I used the ones from Bariatric Pal store until I ran out, then reverted to my caplet Prenatal vitamins.
I have a humor-type one for you.
Just once I would like to read a medication that says
WARNING:
May cause permanent weight loss
Remove Wrinkles
Tighten up loose body areas
Increase Energy Levels.
And What a Wonderful World that would be! -
shublu reacted to walstreet68 in protein shakes make me pukeThank you for the kind words. I thought people were going to crucify me for being so close to surgery. I am doing this and I am not going to cheat again. Surgery is 10 days away. Wow -

shublu reacted to djgirl19 in protein shakes make me pukeDrink what you can. Some people have issues drinking. I had no pain immediately after surgery. I was also very well medicated so that might be why. I couldn’t stand the protein shakes. The first couple were good just because I was so hungry but a week in I was going nuts and when I finally got to soft food I’m drinking as few as possible because I can’t stand them either. Think of it as “taking your medicine”. Lol. I agree on the clear. They’re much less thick and sickening. Water down and put on ice?? -
shublu got a reaction from johnedwin in protein shakes make me pukeRight after surgery they want you to drink 4 ounces in 1 hour. Space it out. 11 ounces in 30 min is a lot in my opinion.

shublu reacted to Flakeranger in protein shakes make me pukeI like the Core Power protein shakes much better, they are not as cloyingly sweet and not as dense. You might try thinning your shake with water or skim milk if it's the consistency that's bothering you. I also like to pour some in a container and freeze it for a bit. It's akin to ice milk and a bit more tolerable. Hang in there and experiment with other brands until you find something that works for you. Protein is essential and this is the easiest way to get it with the least expenditure of calories.

shublu reacted to allwet in Frustration has kicked ineat very slowly to allow yourself to learn how it feels to be full and for your body to process those signals.
it is very likely that your hormonal balance and signaling is very off or down right broken at this point.
it does take some time for things to come around and then for you to learn to recognize these signals.
my advice
1. get in your water - dehydration is your enemy
2. protein is a Goal to work toward not a be all end all. At first you will not get there but you will work Toward it.
just work on getting in all your water and then work toward your protein. then work toward your calorie goal.
at this early point you need to just get comfortable with yourself. the rest will come in the days weeks and then months ahead.
as for the stall - every time you change your diet stage you will most likely stall as this is very disruptive.

shublu reacted to LaShunn in Frustration has kicked inSo.... going back to work definitely heightened my anxiety PLUS the fact that I've only lost 15lbs since April 25th. What I do now is take a walk thru the building when my anxiety kicks in at work. I put up a "restroom" sign & start walking. It has helped my anxiety tremendously, however this stubborn weight is taking its time to leave me. I purchased Genepro protein to ensure I get all my protein in. Try walking more with deep breaths in & out for your anxiety. I wish you the best of luck!!!

shublu reacted to penny.lane in Frustration has kicked inHello Everyone!
Ok, so I'm 3 weeks post op (surgery was on May 27th) and seem to have hit the 3 week stall a bit earlier. The scale has barely moved during the last week, plus I got back to work last Monday and it's harder to tackle old habits and anxiety here. I've handled it quite well and stuck to my nutritionist's guidelines, though it's VERY hard to eat more than 30 grams of protein at lunch and dinner. She recommended 60 grams on those meals, but since I wasn't able to do it I should add an egg white during the afternoon to get a good protein intake.
I'm also having a hard time understanding my body. One bite over capacity and I'll be rushing to the bathroom to vomit (or try to), and since that varies with the type and consistency of the food I still don't understand when I'm getting there. Trying to pace myself during meals to avoid that feeling.
So, adding all these, I'm getting a bit frustrated. I know this will pass, but still, I need more coping mechanisms for my anxiety.
I appreciate any tips or positive comments to remind me that this is definitely not the easy way out!
Cheers!

shublu reacted to frankarch in Recommendations for revision surgery in North Jersey and surrounding areaI had gastric sleeve surgery done by Dr. Sadek and the team at Advanced Surgical and Bariatrics in Somerset NJ. The surgery was performed at RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick. I had a great experience with them. They have a few offices in Central NJ, in case that helps.
