  1. I get banded the 18th of Sept. Have started the medifast on 9/1. Mon thru Thurs I lost 9 lbs. I'm getting thru with the shakes only. Sometimes it bothers me to look at or smell food but I am holding up. Only thing left is 8th or my primary dr again and cardio dr on Wed along with another weigh-in. All else is done. They want me to have someone over age 18 home with me the first night after banding. Anyone have any problems during this time? I have 2 teenage sons at home. I may ask my friend who is going to drive me to and from if she can stay.
  2. When I hear good stories like yours, it makes me feel like I am doing what I need to for my health and not to be so scared. Am beginning to prep myself now that I have a date, with eating less and drinking lots more water. I need to shrink my stomach some before I get to the liquid diet pre-op phase.
  3. I would love you to be a mentor for me. I just got my band date; Sept 18. I am very nervous. I am about 90 lbs over weight. Been up and down a lot with my weight. Lost it all about 6 yrs ago and put it right back on. I just went to the psych and all is good to go there. Aug 20 I go to nutrition, ekg and blood gases. sept 10 cariologist. Now, I need to get my body and mind used to eating much less and maybe doing some liquid meals during the day too so that I will be able to stick to the medifast only come Sept 3.
  4. The not even drinking part at this point seems like it would be unbearable. Aren't you starving? How are you handling it? Can you have water?
  5. I have my first appt on 7/15 in Schenectady at Ellis. What hosp. did you go and what stage are you at? I'd love to communicate with a local person. I can't wait to get my band. I live in Clifton Park, NY
  6. I am signed up for orientation in mid June. I have been successful in losing weight (up to 80 lbs.) at a time, but I continually gain it back., even after I tell myself, I'll never get there again. I then have an extreme hard time getting onto a diet again. I am hoping that this time after the band, when I lose it, it won't regain like I did before I had the band. Will I be refused if I have been a long time yo-yo dieter. I continually end up going back to bad and over eating habits. I am also wondering what kinds of things they look at at the psych eval.:confused2:
