Fox star reacted to Ready610 in June 2019 Surgery Siblings!Good evening, June Siblings! I am finally coherent enough to post. I had my surgery at 12:30 pm today. Praise God, I’m feeling pretty good. Ice chips and water have been going down well. Pain is being managed well. Moved from bed to chair. Waiting on a protein shake to arrive. Went the the restroom with no issues. The only weird thing is that my lip is swollen. I seem to have a had an allergic reaction to something. No one is sure what, but they think it may be from the tube in my mouth during surgery. There were no complications. Although the doc found a hernia, which he took care of, as he thought it might contribute to reflux. Glad he did that. Anyway—just wanted update you all. I’ve appreciated reading all of your experiences and learned from everyone of you. I’m expected to be here for two days due to my hip and knee issues. I’ll post agin after the pain meds wear off? thanks for sending good thought and prayers my way! -

Fox star reacted to ginaedwards in June 2019 Surgery Siblings!Hi Fox star! Not knowing your history or where you are in your journey I’m not sure how to respond. I would assume if they gave you what they said you were supposed to consume in a particular time frame that you should to maintain your health. Maybe call them and clarify?

Fox star reacted to S@ssen@ch in Packing a bag for the hospitalI don't think I even got into my bag until discharge, so I really didn't use anything I'd packed. Not my charger, not my PJ's, nothing. In fact, I think I turned my phone off and never turned it on. I might have had some lip balm and I would highly recommend having some, just in case. At discharge, I washed my face and combed my hair, put on some comfy clothes and out the door I went.
Regarding slippers, I had them in my bag but never got them out and I'm glad I didn't. I agree with KCgirl061 above. There's nothing wrong with the hospital socks, even the gowns are tolerable (not fashionable, but tolerable).
My advice: pack light. Make sure you have some stretchy pants/comfy clothes to go home in. Otherwise, the rest is a personal choice. If you feel you need basic toiletries, include lip balm.
