Erinrae reacted to Panda333 in Changed from Sleeve to RNY BypassHi Folks, I've been on these forums for a few months with the intent to have the sleeve procedure. I just went through all the pre-req scans, appointments, counseling sessions. etc...I'm so ready for the surgery but am dealing with some insurance drama (other thread..) but......starting this thread because my doctor called me the other day to discuss my upper GI and said I had GERD ( I never knew at 48 years of age I had that and acid reflux..who knew??) and also pointed out that people with my bmi have better results with the bypass. Soooooooo.....Now, I feel like I should get the bypass. My only hesitation before was that it's a bit more complex and frankly, I'm lazy when it comes to vitamins. I'll just have to be extra diligent. Anyone else here like me starting the journey to get the sleeve and switch??

Erinrae reacted to Bypassgirl92 in I cant believe how far I have come..Hi everyone,
I just want to say this has been quite the amazing journey thus far. December 18th 2018 I went into my surgery at 285 pounds. 8 1/2 months ago was the biggest decision and biggest step I ever took towards changing my life. For the past 8 years I was a very happy and unhealthy person. Gradually becoming more and more obese by the day. I truly thank my family to opening up my eyes as to how unhappy and unhealthy I was. I first went into my doctors office at a very unhappy and unhealthy 304 pounds. My pre-op diet of protein shakes for 2 weeks helped me get down to 285 just in time for my surgery. I am now today 167 pounds as of this morning. I have not been in the 160's since my teens and I am now 27. I still want to lose another 37 pounds to reach my goal weight of 130 due to my height. But the sky is the limit baby!! I just want you all to know post op and pre op that I wish you all good luck and hope you had and have as much success as I did so far. Hugs to you all!!!

I believe in transparency and if this post helps even one person that is why I am posting it. Would I do the RNY again? Yes. Did I know going in I would have to say goodbye to some foods forever? No.
I keep a list of foods now just in case I would ever forget and how sick they made me. My list is below, please add to it any horrible foods that make you sick!
Peanut butter
Beef of any kind
Most frozen dinners like Stouffers
MSG in foods - Like Chinese and other takeout foods
Greasy and deep fried foods like onion rings
Soups with MSG or grease in them at restaurants
Most breads, pancakes, and donuts
Super sweet sugary desserts like chocolate cake
Too much ice cream - I can only take small amounts of plain vanilla ice cream now
Pop or soda NEVER AGAIN ITS TORTURE!!!
Restaurants that are gone for me are Canes, Texas Roadhouse - pretty much most steakhouses, Burger King, all the glorious pasta at Olive Garden- I can still eat their salad, Rally’s, Krispy Kreme donuts.
I am not a drinker but probably any carbonated drink or beer would kill me!
I’m thankful for the weight lost and healthy body but with it comes a strict new way of eating that will be with me the rest of my life. -
Erinrae reacted to Ruth9454 in Anyone with PCOS not lose weight after surgeryYes, I so hate all the presumptions about why we are the weight we are when we have PCOS. Some doctors don't even believe in it. I'm so tire of people saying it's mathematically impossible to not lose weight if you eat the right number of calories. This is such a cruel disease. I hope you are all doing well!
