Decaffer got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Calling to Post-Ops;Any Tips to being successful post-op(first weeks, months, year)Good luck tomorrow! Today is my six-month post op anniversary. My biggest tip would be to focus on water first and protein next. After you are recovered (I would say it was month 3 for me) start adding weight training 2-3 times per week. Also, start a new facial regimen now to help reduce extra wrinkles from the weight loss. Finally, don’t invest a lot in smaller clothes until later because you will transition so quickly. I have found myself going to Goodwill to keep basics in current size. Congratulations and best of luck!!

Decaffer reacted to MadmanDJ in Calling to Post-Ops;Any Tips to being successful post-op(first weeks, months, year)I used Baritastic App on my phone to track my progress and keep a food log and journal. This is going to be an amazing journey, but it's not going to be easy. But, I am almost six months out and it was the best decision I have ever made. I also got the Gastric Sleeve Bariatric Cookbook by Sarah Kent. It was eventually extremely helpful when I was able to eat more varieties of food. Congratulations and best of luck. You are going to do great!

Decaffer reacted to domi in 6 month post op, mental stallThis was and still is tough for me. When I get a stall now, I throw myself into a new activity. At 6 months I started to swim, this activity helped kick my body back into weight loss. I think I may try bike riding now. I also notice when I want more snacks, I haven't been drinking enough water. I am also starting to try new recipes and foods so I don't get bored. I also put a sign in my bathroom right on the mirror that says Take Care of Yourself, You're worth it.

Decaffer reacted to Healthy_life2 in 6 month post op, mental stallFantastic weight loss and I’m sorry your struggling.
Weight loss slows and restriction becomes less as you progress out from surgery. You’re not alone and this is normal. Just because we can eat more does not mean we have to eat over our weight loss macros and calories.
Strategies to fill the extra space and help with hunger. (log food – stay in your calories and macros)
Eat dense protein. (nothing soft) Eat as much veggies until full with your protein (Keeps your calories low and fills the extra space) If you are adding in extra carbs/sugar they will make you crave them more - Get them out of the house and detox Find bariatric recipes to get out of food ruts. Healthy should be flavorful. Keep healthy sweet and salty foods in the house
